This situation with Mr. Bob Johnson, and what he said “that Barack Obama wouldn’t be where he's at if he was not Black”, makes me think of the House Slave going to his Master, and telling him that his field Slaves was planning to run away. He tells his Master “. Master why would they want to run away Master; you are a good Master you give them a place to live and food to eat, and you give their woman your blood when you have sex with them. Master they do not know how good they got it, I will never leave you Master.
This also reminds me of the Willie Lynch letter.

Hannity has an obsession with Obama because he's an intelligent black man, smarter than him, that's why he'll spend a whole show on talking about Obama plus the fact they don't want to see a black man in the white house. Everything Obama says is taken out of content. I just heard on csnbc that Oprah has lost some of the (white)women audience because she endorsed Obama. Oprah has done good deeds for everyone all over this world and for the women movement to try to dictate what she does is outragous. Oprah is endorsing Obama because she believe's in him, she respect Hillary but she feels Obama would be a better president. I'm voting for Obama and if they take this election from him i will be voting for McCain. Hillary is a lair and she can't be trusted, everytime she opens her mouth she lies she stated that her father took her to see Martin Luther King Jr. as a child and at the rally he reached out and touched her hand, she also said on hearing of his death she took her bookbag and flung it across the room. We didn't have bookbags back then. She's also full of dirty tricks and will do and say anything to win. I don't like McCain but sometimes you have to take a stance on what's right. Sometimes we need to stand for somrthing or we will continue to fall for anything and everything.

Mr. Martin, CNN really doesn’t have any shame with the negative tactics against Senator Barrack Obama. It would really be nice if CNN wouldn’t be so obvious with their choice of candidate Hillary Clinton, just once play his entire response from your passion forum.

It is really sad that we has African Americans are constantly being judge by a set of standards which doesn’t apply with White Americans; case and point Hillary Clinton has told un-truths, bold face lies about several events, Senator Clinton and her husband amassing $109,000,000.00 within ten years and she calls Senator Obama an elitist.

How about CNN can you for once tell all the truth without spinning Senator Barrack Obama words? It would be really nice to here a major news conglomerate like CNN, MSNBC and FOX deliver the truth, just this morning “Morning Joe Show" Joe Scarborough has quoted Senator, Barrack Obama calling the people in the small towns of America bigots, which he never called anyone a bigot as it relates to this story. It’s just amazing how easy it is to see through the smoke screen (hill of spin) I hope that CNN, MSNBC and FOX news are proud of your fears. Why won’t you interview African Americans or are there only White Americans blue collar in small town across America.
Finally Mr. Roland I would hope that African Americans New Journalist will tell the truth and stop playing the game, because at the end of the day Rev. John Hagge statements about the Catholic Church never made it on the air and Pastor Haggee media ministry can measure up too par with most of your local news stations never the less no footage. White Americans are offended with word BITTER but their okay with words like African American when in fact we're the only race of Americans are damn if we do and we're damn if we don't. Mr. Martin I wish someone in journalism would tell the absolute truth about what's really going on right before our very own eyes.
The bigotry which I believe that flowed from the very top of leadership to the local levels in this country, unanswered hate crimes over 350 plus years. But go figure Senator Barrack Obama had to answer to his former Pastor interpertations of the scriptures, why? Because he's a member of United Church of Christ not a member of Rev. Jerimaih Wright but he's now looked at as racist hum!
I can at least thank you for your professionlism and open truthfulness as it relates to your opinions.

Roland,

I just want to say thank you for your boldness, and for speaking and bringing the truth to the forefront of "the media." Every time I have seen you on CNN, you speak truth and evoke thoughts that makes a person say, "hmmm." As for Sean Hannity...I would love to hear the two of you debate. He doesn't stand a chance! I believe he is afraid of you as a radio host, just as he is afraid of Obama becoming the nominee of the Democratic party. He appears to use his media platform as his battleground to express his racist views. I also believe he is afraid of the truth about him and his affiliations will be exposed. He says he is a christian, but does his walk line up with his talk. As a woman of faith, I must say that I am tired of so called christians, confessing out of their mouths about that they are a christian, but have so much hatred, and very little compassion for anyone or anything for that matter. It's all about them, rather than it's all about HIM. Who are they trying to convince? themselves? When you are a Christian you don't have to announce it, people will see it. It is time for a talk show host altar call! Bring the debate on! Sean should come running with a need to first repent, and to pray that God delivers him from his hatred and demeaning spirit. I am not judging, but I am calling it as I see it. Okay, I'm getting off of my soapbox!

I would really love to see if he could man up face to face with you Roland. I got my popcorn popping. :) Continue to report the truth! May God richly bless you!

Thank you for bringing out the truth about Rev. Wright's comments, and for calling out Sean Hannity. I wonder if Sean knows what it means to be a Christian, and by whose standards does he measure himself?

Sean, if you continue on this self-destructive path, you will be rewarded accordingly. When was the last time you looked into the mirror and took a good look at yourself? I sincerely encourage you to do so.

A Johnson - and how is that?

I have stated nothing more than facts.

No other people have been as pampered as blacks have been.

And they only dig themselves deeper.

I am thankful to see the bridge of Jesus and politics with you. I believe there are clear distinctions betweent the time of THE LAW (Everything linear before Stephen spoke in Acts 7, and God clearly says "Israel I put you aside" at this time- to what Jesus declared to Paul (Ephesians 3) about the unconditional love of His Grace. (notice Paul is raised up right after the Jewish leaders kill Stephen speaking by the holy spirit, and Peter is told for the first time to "eat pork" God is a choice, clearly spoken through Paul after Israel was put aside. The law kills, and the love of God constrains us. Because God has ordained choice, our way should be clear, and any choices by any one of us will either have the electricity of God running through our submitting wills, or obviously we will choose to not have HIM there. As a democrat with the FAITH of Jesus (not my faith in, but HIS FAITH OF (check out the Greek in Galatians 2, it's not your faith in Jesus that saves, that happened once in punctilliar- but the faith OF Jesus that saves- which is linear and never ends) There is alot of mud out there, and I'm sure people like Hannity, (IF they are believers) put all their submitting in THE LAW, the law condemns and kills, which was more important to the Jewish leaders at Jesus time, than actually submitting to HIS LOVE. The Law was a "foreshadowing of what was coming" Grace is getting what we don't deserve, and then being able to LOVE because he has made us able, not because we have to. Thanks to Jesus for your Heart and abilities Roland! Rock on!

W. Johnson,

Its called "Free Speech" :-). So if someone says President George W. Bush is a "War Criminal" does that make he/she a enemy combatant? Of course not, boo-boo the fool! If so all these Impeach Bush Regime, Peace Groups and Out of Iraq Groups would have been locked-up long time ago.

If one can say God damn you Bush-you War Criminal, then why cant they say God damn America? You are full of ignorance, go study some more, find more bogus/negative things about Black Folks and be sure to post it, lol. GFY, homo boy wonder! Long Lives the Queen :-)

Roland,

How is it that the Hillary - Bosnia "fabrication" was abruptly quieted when the media fed off the Reverend Wright situation for weeks? And why isn't anyone addressing this double standard?

Wigga Johnson,

You always contradict yourself. First you ask why are Black People upset with White Folks. Then you answer by stating Whitey's Syphilis Experiment, which means you know why Black Folks dont trust White Folks. Your just trying to be a wise guy, however the jokes on you, Irish Cracker!

I call you a Cracker in the sense of England Pissing and Cracking you and your Ancestors across your heads/domes, lol. Until then continue to do more research on Blacks being abused by White Folks, and be sure to post it.

Thank you for your investigations. So often we only get the spin. And the worst of it is that the spin if more often than not untrue. Every time I hear that Senator Obama should have left his church because of a comment his pastor made, I ask what would Jesus do? I think you don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Just because someone in your family makes you angry it doesn't mean you hate them. What intelligent people will do is investigate why one says what they do.

Roland,

The only punitive lawsuit that I believe in is slander. Can Obama, you and a class action democrat legal case sue the people who are deliberately distorting the facts and spewing vile and demonic words. If I were Obama or anyone who is slandered with lies in public (like Dixie Chicks or John McCain in SC), I would sue to defend my name and loss. I know one way to get Dr. Wright's entire speech heard. Dr. Wright could sue to show that he was preaching word for word out of the bible. If the information is true in context fine but when a person lies, he should be held accountable under the law. This act has been deliberately repeated every day. If tabloids have been successfully sued, I am sure that these people can be sued too. Free speech does not give anyone the right to slander anyone. The evidence is certainly available and Obama has been surely harmed. Damages should be the entire cost of the campaign plus 10x more in punitive damages.

Dude, remember "Social Experiment" thats all you were and ever will be. Long Lives the Queen of England, this smile is for you, after all Irish eyes are smiling right, or are they smiling to hide their tears, because England continues to piss on y'all?

Oh yeah, since I'm a Gentlemen, you can have the LAST WORD :-}

It is time someone stand up and demand this man take on someone that will speak the truth to him! I am a white woman, 45, from missouri in the bible belt .. and I have been shocked at how this nation would not stand behind this reverend! There are many things in the past my pastor has said behind the pulpit.... that I have not agreed with but so much more I do so I stay and support my church and minister... I am glad Obama took a stand and said he would not walk away from him!
I am sick of the racist in this country! As far as the Grandma situation... well darn it .. There have been many times I have went into a convenience store and been afraid if there were several young black males in there. ... I have never considered myself a racist but.... cautious.... there are many many gangs out there and if your not afraid then you should be at least cautious... does it make it right that we feel this way no..... but I have friends (african americans) that say they don't dare go into small town america at night and they always lock their doors driving thru them....
But, does that make them racist no.... it makes them cautious and they should be.... I mean I know of a town in missouri .... VIENNA, MO. that still has laws on their books dating back 100's of years that state ... NIGGER DON'T SHOW YOUR FACE IN TOWN AFTER DARK!
So don't tell me that Shawn Hannety doesn't get it .. his whole thing is that he is Republican and he knows that this will take a good decent man down that is running for office! SHAME ON YOU HANNITY!

Don't forget the white house. There was a one side-sided contract. Payment = zero. We list our contributions to negate the lies that black people are lazy and did not contribute to the building of America. The same is said of indians, mexicans, spanish, hispanics. How can it be true that one race built america? We want one thing. A "United States Of America" or back payment starting with the indians. The history of the united states is our history starting with the indians. It was not built by one race. The indians had it right. The resources of God are for all creatures. Why is there a race problem in the world? The first man created or evolved was dark. The skin colors evolved.

Please guys, were were trying to have positve dialogue on this sight. I think that if we just ignore the racist remarks by W. Johnson and others, they will eventually feel that they are in the wrong place and go away. It is impossible to rationale with people who are ignorant of facts and just say things just be saying them. For instance, most black people know of many black people that have contributed many good things to society. There have many inventions by black people that you don't hear about until Black History month. I suspect that W. Johnson doesn't even know anything about these inventions, because he says that whites have done everything and blacks have done nothing. Now, how can you really argue with a person like that. W. Johnson has no basis for his statements and just puts them out there like people are going to believe them. Because he makes statements like this, it shows his true ignorance. I think that we should just ignore him when he post comments and eventually he will get the point that nobody who really wants unity is listening to all that petty rhetoric. "lIKE A SOUNDING BOARD, SIGNIFYING NOTHING".

It's probably Sean anyway. '

Willie Spencer - Along with asking about black women disappearing, ask why Al Sharpton wanted Imus fired regardless of all the good he has done, but was not held accountable for his TOTALLY FALSE accusations in the Tawana Brawley fiasco.

Why he was not held accountable for the TOTALLY FALSE Duke Lacrosse fiasco.

Why he allowed Isiah Thomas to get off with an apology for repeatedly calling a black woman a bitch and a ho but wanted Imus fired.

Why Bryant Gumbel can make the comment "So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention" and not be held accountable. I know, I know, I know...it was taken out of context, etc, etc, etc. How come that never works for the white man? He gets fired.

A spit in the face of all the white kids who've been training since they were 6 years old our younger, they're not athletes according to Gumbel.

Willie Spencer Says:

Those black clients you spoke to fondly of, do you believe that they would remain clients of yours if they knew of your true thoughts about Black Americans?

A - It is not my feelings on ALL black americans. It is my feelings on black americans who blame me (whitey for all their problems as if just because I'm white the world is laid out in front of me to take what I want). They don't preach white hatred to me. If they did, I would not have them as clients.

Second in Obama’s speech he did in fact speak to Black people addressing our own issues.

A - He talked about slavery. His family never knew anything about slavery in America. If he wants to trash the white man about it, let him also address slavery in his father's native Kenya where it still exists today.

What you still don’t get is that racism today is far more overt than covert.

A - No, I get it evertime a black treats me like crap. I have plenty of stories like I'm sure you have. Just this am on the A train in Manhattan an older black woman asked me if she would get the L train from the A. I said, yes you can. I'm taking the L train. I'll take you over. And I did.

A - being treated like crap by the other race IS NOT a one way street. Look at all the garbage Hiram is talking to me!

You talk about how you have worked hard to get where you are which is fine. But think about this, what if the loans you tried to get had interest rates higher than that of another race based on your Irish history. Or that if you went into court and were sentenced for a crime that you got twice the length of time in jail than anyone else in society.

A - Ever hear the Irish are just N turned inside out? I have. Life is so easy for white people. I have a German surname in an industry dominated by Jews. Guess how much they love having a kraut working for them!

Yes slavery has existed throughout history, yet this was the only country that defined it for years by race.

A - so, it is better that the black man enslaved his own people?

Why weren’t the Native Americans enslaved?

A - How about you tell me. I know an answer.

Then you also want to ignore Jim Crow, redlining, why white males make more than black males of equal experience and education. You see it is and has always been easier for people of European decent to integrate because face it you all physically look the same.

A - Asians don't look like Europeans and they've flown by blacks AND whites economically.

Yes there are problems in the Black community and trust me no one knows that better than we do. But don’t act like we did this all by ourselves. Way back a long time ago Europeans went to Africa for culture, math, science, and technology but once again you know little of history.

A- point me to the book and I'll read it if you'll read books I recommend.

Do I think you are a racist honestly I don’t know, do I think you are ignorant to history yes, very. The fact that you have to state over and over that you are not racist says volumes.

A - Call me whatever you want. I've got a black admin my boss has wanted me to fire for years. I defend her all the time because she does what I need her to. I've told him, if others have problems with her, let them write her up, but she does what I need so I have not reason to write her up.

It’s like saying I’m not a racist I have black friends (which you don’t claim to have). You, like so many like to take a few successful Black people and prop them up and claim that everything is all good and it is not. Again I will not try to change your mind and thoughts they are yours to maintain, what I do ask is that you open your mind a little bit. What I do ask is that you ask your black clients what are there thougts on race relations, visit a black church, and a black school and look at the conditions of them. Last you redacted the statement that blacks have not built anything due to me telling you about black architects right here in this country.

Black people are 13-14% of the population so is it likely that more white people are on welfare than black.

A - per Bill Cosby's book, 70% are born out of wedlock. As a percentage, more blacks are on welfare than whites and whites pay more into it that blacks.

The black people that do suceed have to work harder than you do to get to the same place. But of course you don’t think about that.

A - Schools everywhere in the US have lowered their standards to allow blacks to pass and get in.
Like I've written. I have a black CPA with 18 years experience and an Asian with 5 years. The Asian has done 3 times as many tax returns as the black. How is that working harder?

Because like so many your first thought is about you and your own little bubble. Fortunately, I have had the experience of living overseas and througout the US. And poverty and lack of opportunity is the same all over the world. I think you basically enjoy spouting off BS, and that is your right. But before you do learn some history of the world.

Oh and W. Johnson, question why is it that when young white women disappear you hear about it for days on end, however when women of color disappears, it is either not talked about or if so a small report and then it dies.

A - I don't know and I don't think it is fair either. ASK ROLAND THAT QUESTION. HE WORKS FOR CNN!!

Black people are 13-14% of the population so is it likely that more white people are on welfare than black.

A – per Bill Cosby’s book, 70% are born out of wedlock. As a percentage, more blacks are on welfare than whites and whites pay more into it that blacks.

The black people that do suceed have to work harder than you do to get to the same place. But of course you don’t think about that.

A – Schools everywhere in the US have lowered their standards to allow blacks to pass and get in.
Like I’ve written.

A – I don’t know and I don’t think it is fair either. ASK ROLAND THAT QUESTION. HE WORKS FOR CNN!!

Hiram!

"Stay off Black Bogs and Websites" - if whites have to let blacks into everything we do, I think I'll stay on this bog and we'll call it being fair.

As for your people building America, you got paid for your work. If you wanted more, why didn't you negotiate that up front?

“Drunk Irish Trash”? Roland, is the intelligent type of debate you are looking for on your page?

If so, can I use the N work without censorship?

Hiram –

The more you write, the more I agree with you.

It REALLY is NOT a small group of racist white people who owned slaves and lynched blacks. It IS EVERY SINGLE white person. ALL us whiteys be to blame!

And just to show you how sorry we are, I propose we shut down our businesses and close our colleges and give you all our white women and money and let you run the country.

Will that make up for all the bad we’ve done?

"Long live the Queen" is supposed to upset me? Gosh, I better work on getting upset then!

You are too beautiful, brother!

W Johnson,

Why do White Folks play stupid? Oh we "Whitey" dont know why Black America is so upset with us. Well maybe its because White Folks Lynched, Raped, Bombed, us! Maybe its because White Folks through brute force used our labor, wombs, and intellect for FREE, then told us we (Blacks) were not allowed to read, write, or vote.

These are Facts, you Drunk Irish Trash - Blacks received the rights to vote in the mid 60's which is not that long ago. How many Klans Men are Senators, Mayors, and Congressmen besides Sen. Robert Byrd? Thats the plight of the Real Black Man who was and is considered a Mutant.

Like I said, I love being a Mutant because all the White Girls love to ride and suck my Mutant Stick, lol. I guess thats why your Doctors created "Penis Pills for "White Trash" like you who dont have the tools to knock a woman's back out, lol. Long Live tha Queen ;-}

Hiram

OMG! You are TOO precious!!

You speak about black women as if they are a something to be used.

I certainly am not saying the Irish are perfect, but, we don't glorify their failures and blame it on the Brits, or the potato famines of 150 years ago. Personally, I call them white trash and shanty Irish. I've even heard people call them N turned inside out.

If they can't get passing grades in school it is THEIR fault, not THE WHITE MAN'S FAULT. We don’t lower the standards just to keep them passing.

Yes, the British control Northern Ireland. Do you expect me to deny it like you and others deny the history of slavery and current state of your ancestral lands.

John Kennedy was a skirt chaser. That's been common knowledge for 40+ years. Do you expect me to deny it and claim it is just blacky propaganda?! I believe it. So what?

Take responsibility for yourself and quit blaming others for your failures.

Couple weeks ago I got a flat tire in Manhattan. The AAA driver was a heck of a nice black guy from the Bronx. We were in the truck cab filling out the paper work and he had some rap music playing which essentially went “F you, you MFin’ N, I’m gonna put bullets in your MF’in N head….” You’re comparing that to Irish Step Dancing? Didn’t think you would bring out the big guns!! I give, you win!

You’re right, with spell check my spell has suffered. Let’s make a deal, I’ll work on my spelling and you work on your ebonics.

If your proudest accomplishment in life is the size of your humongous wiener and boinking white women, well, after my teenage years I thought there was more to life (like college, career, family), but I’m just a racist whitey, so what do I know?

Dee -

Thanks for your responses.

I would love for you to explain something to me I've never understood.

If blacks are so bitter about the white man having brought him here and there is so much racism here, why do they stay?

Can you tell me the reason? Thanks

Roland,
Thank you for your stances on Sean Hannity. I have
gotten so discussed with their tone on Barack Obama,
that I turn the channel, not that I was a big fan of
theirs anyway. But I have become so involved in the
campaign and hoping so much that he can win. Not
becuse he is black but I feel we need a new kind of
politics and person in the White House. It sadden me
that the media and even CNN who I had often praised
for the fact that they usually do not take a stance on
issues. But some of their commentators and analysts
are so negative. I would like to know where Pat
Buchannan and Baye Buchannan come off. Are they a Tag
team or what. CNN and MSNBC needs to get rid of both
of those characters and I do mean characters along with LOU DOBBS who I use to have
respect for. You can tell they are living in the same age as they are
trying to claim Reverand Wright lives in. The Past. I also believe this
is a hit job from The Clinton Camp. And if she wins the election, I WILL
SIT AT HOME AND NOT VOTE.

Where is the Reverand Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson on this?

THANK YOU and I Applaud you. You have
always had my respect and KEEP UP THE FIGHT as only
you can.

W. Johnson, First of all you need to go and read your BLACK HISTORY, because some where in the mix you are totally 'TWISTED', you said that AFRICIAN AMERICANS have never built anything, well I need to inform you just to name a few, NATHANIEL ALEXANDER (THE FOLDING CHAIR), JAMES METTHEW ALLEN (THE REMOTE CONTROLL APPRATUAS), ULYSSES S. WALTON (DENTURES) and by the way I sure hope you never have need of them, PAUL E. WILLIAMS (THE HELICOPTER DESIGN),this is just to name a few and oh yea they are all patent. If you will take your mind out of the clouds and come back down on earth with the rest of the world you just might learn something,
W.
Roland, i am grateful to God for Obama being in this situation. People have been saying that Obama has not been vetted, has not been tested, not expereinced a 3am phone call, been treated with kids glove by the media, etc.

Let all those who support him see it as something positive. Everything happens for a reason. If Obama continues to put his faith in God and not waiver, then with God's help he will calm this storm. Moments like these show what a true leader is made of. This should be his moment to shine; and his enemies will be defeated. Obama is only experiencing his Job moment. He will come back on top. What God has ordained canot be changed.

Dear Martin,

What if Barack Obama had referred to his Kenyan grandmother “as a typical black person”, would that have generated the same degree of outrage? Certainly not.

To his white grandmother, Barack stands racially estranged in keeping with the longstanding "plantation tradition". Thus, however thick Obama's bloodline is to his grandmother, it is trumped by race such that the likes of Sean Hannity are considered her close relatives in the broad racial context. This is the basis of their outrage. Nothing more nothing less.

The underpinning to the current fracas is essentially rooted in the old dispensation borne out of the plantation to cast biracial off-springs to a lower "caste".

So as it were, Obama, having been caste black, crosses the racial divide if he made an un-salutary comment about his white grandmother. The same cannot not be said if a white person made similar remarks about their grandmother.

Those fanning the cinder of this outrage such as your very own Lou Dobbs are more than skin deep in their racism much as they profess otherwise.

Question.

The question for white America today is “what is Obama’s race?” If the answer is black, then it reinforces the caste system in this society.

Let the race debate begin.

Hi Roland, Ilove watching you on CNN. Fox News is the worst. Sean Hannity is not man enough to have a debate with you. Hannity and Colmes are the worst. It seems like they hold a lot of hatred for Sen. Obama especially Sean Hannity. No matter whe it is I turn to Hannity and Colmes, Sean Hannity is always saying by the way we broke the story about Sen. Obama's Pastor first. Really who cares? There are really no words I can find to describe that man. I am an Obama supporter and will remain that way. I don't care about what his Pastor preached. But a lot of what he said is true. America needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

Roland,

I do not agree with you, and Hiram, that was not nice to call Dee a name. The only thing that Obama brings is division. If he's the hope and change for the future, then why does his supporters get so upset, and cheat. I like Tavis Smiley because he keeps it real. Roland, you're only voting for him because he's black, and you call yourself a Christian. God is not about race, he's about character. I use to watch you until you have showed your true colors. You go on black tv shows and tell the blacks to vote for McCain if Hilary wins the nomination. That's not right. Tell the truth and shame the devil. Out the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Be blessed, I totally disagree with you. You really need to seek the Lord my brother and not allow your flesh to get in the way.

Fox News is demonstrating a racial hatred. Fox and Friend, John Gibson, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly. I Rupert Murdox a racist? That is the only conclusion on the continuing loop of a small simple of Rev. Wright sermon. I listened and watch the entire service, and I understand clearly what the Pastor was saying. He has the right to say it. Roland Martin is the "ONLY" voice telling the truth. I even saw Lou Dobbs for what he is the other day. The only fair reporting is on MSNBC, and Anderson Cooper. Even then, they are tempted to slant the story to get the unethical talking heads to stir the pot of hatred. Those Buchanons, of Pat and Babe are just plain racist. The cable news is showing us just how they feel. It is the fear of the loss of power that is putting them in a panic.

Why bother or even listen to people like Sean? Intelligent people I listen to. Ignorant and ONE sided people I do not listen to. Sean was NEVER a supporter of ANY Dem. candidate and he sure wasn't an Obama supporter. So why bother debating him? If he were a supporter and somehow changed his views regarding Obama or changed his mind about supporting him, then you would be right to challenge him. However, it's stupid to challenge him since he NEVER supported him. You debate and challenge people that have differing and VARIOUS views, not someone with only ONE view. And, Sean is as one sided as they come.....Nice try though.

Good Day Roland:

I want to thank you for your comments this past week regarding the sermon of Rev. Wright on behalf of Sen. Obama. This in my opinion has gone on much too long, and it amazes me on how so many people are not focusing on the "real" issues of why Sen. Obama is running for the highest office in the country; and what he has to offer as the "Truly First African American President", not President Bill Clinton. Now, don't take this the wrong way I am for anyone who can touch on the real issues, I feel that Sen. Obama has the ability to reach all people (all ethnic groups) on the issues we would like to see addressed and possibly resolved. Also, I feel that those who are offended by Rev. Wright are feeling a bit guilty of him expressing the truth, although spoken somewhat out of context, after all Sen. Obama intellect, knowledge and ability is putting fear in many.....God Bless

Hiram -

Your views offend me as much as W Johnson's do. I don't want the world you prophesy about. I also do not believe you represent the larger population of African Americans.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do and hope that you, too, decide to be a part of America's future.

Good luck to you both. W Johnson and Hiram, I really mean that.

Rowland -

Rev Write's so-called Biblical references in many of your reviews posted are pretty much off the mark. As a Minister and long-time Biblical teacher and student, a lot of his views are wacky. His respose to governments lie and refered to the Roman Gov't...well if folks checked their history the way the Roman military occupied a nation during that times was a large reason why they were so successful for many centuries - permitting the occupied country to continue their society but pay taxes to the Roman Gov't. It was well known then, so what was the lie! Many, many more items he states as "truth" can actually be proven totally false. Where is his references and data to back his statements up! The major problem is because he's loud, uses polarizing messages and a clergy believed he must be right. Rowland, I've been reading many of your blogs about this topic pretty much backing up Rev Write, but have not read ANY references to other Biblical scholars or validated documents backing up Rev Wrights theories - what's up with that Bro!

One thing is true that our nation still has wounds from the past. When it looks like it's trying to heal, then something happends to ripe off the scap and it bleeds and gets infected. We tend to go through this cycle again and again. I fall into two categories, an African American and decendent of American Indians on both sides of my family. Family members murdered in the past because their black, poverty and myself chased by mob of cars out of towns because I was black and my friends hispanic as a youth. This was also during the Black Panther movement and racial riots going on in the late sixties/early seventies in South NJ. Angered brewed and I felt justified, but one thing my Grandmother tought me was that racisim is learned, not inherited. You have to come to a point to forgive and discredit all stereotypes - your actions speaks volumes! She was qualified to make this statement having lost her first husband by a mob ambush when he rode off his farm in the South during the early part of last century. I felt as a youth, if she could forgive the murderers what about me.

We as a people seem to have moved away from emporing ourselves, working towards equality to now blaming whites and others for our failures. Until there's a heart change, racism will always be there in one way or another. We don't have to ignore the past, but come to a point of forgiveness. Forgiveness isn't the same as pay me what's due first then I'll forgive...that's forgiveness with strings attached and not genuine as Christ taught.

Rowland.....another important item that proves we've grown as a nation is that you now have your job! If we've turned back the clock, how many actual black commentators were there? Someone from the white community in the past had to look beyond color and take a stand against racism. Now you and many, many more flood the airwaves. Let's use it to build.

Have Rev Wright tback-up his statements with actual data to confirm, put up or shut up! I would love to debate him!

Dee,

You cant heal people like (W. Johnson) nor can Obama and his messages heal (Racists America)! White People in America have and are gulity of Violations of Human Rights thwart the Black Race. America will never heal, Racism and hate rules this Country, just as Satan is refered to in the Bible as the god of this World.

The only solution is for America to give (African Americans) a large part of America so that we could create our own Government and Laws. My ancestors didn't ask to be brought to America, they were taken to this Country by White Slave Owners who pissed, lynched, raped, and then murdered them!

So whose the animal? Black Africans didn't invade Europe and force their Religion and Slavery upon them, so Europe had no right(s) in its evil attempts to destory the Black Family. America will heal when there is no America, and every man stands before God Almighty to receive his payment for deeds done on His Earth ;-]

W Johnson,

Long live the Queen of England, lol. The Irish, a people who suppose to be Civilized? The Irish are animals who in the past hacked each other to death (1609-1886) and (1969-1997). One would think that since the Irish are so advanced they wouldn't kill one another over Religious Beliefs, however thats not the case, right W. Johnson?

President Bill and 1st Lady Clinton was forced to take a trip to Ireland just too stop you animals from wiping each other off the Face of the Earth (Roman Catholics & Protestants).

So when you talk of Civility, the Irsih are not the model example ;-[

Roland, your point of view are always right on que and refreshing, as they affirm my own beliefs.

Of late, I've struggled with the issues surrounding America's apparent lack of understanding regarding the experience of African Americans, and the remains of unsightly scar tissue that causes us to filter life's circumstances through different lenses." To this end, I felt compelled to revisit what was personally the most turbulent period of my baby-boomer existence, as I attempted to put this all into proper perspective. I Googled (the artist) "Odetta - "Mississippi g--d---!" (actually recorded by Nina Simone - Music of the Civil Rights Movement on YouTube), a familiar song of an era that Rev. Jeremiah Wright is also a product. The artist, as well as Rev. Wright, and countless others, seem to share similiar sentiments regarding the individual and corporate effects of the socio-political-racial climate of the time. The song reflects in small measure, the strength and breadth of anger and rage that was and to a degree still is, so much a part of the experience of African American peoples in America.

Recent events have negatively impacted the candidacy of Senator Obama that relates to media treatment of selected sermons of Rev. Jeremiah Wright (which, taken out of historical context as they have been), admittedly sound very imflammatory. The wolves are howling, with Alpha-female Ferrero snarling and circling as the pack demands blood in the form of Sen. Obama's rejecton and repudiation of his pastor, whom he clearly understands is not the sum total of snippets of these sermons. These events causes me to wonder if there was any real progress over the 40 or so years following the civil rights movement. I question, "HOW CAN AMERICA NOT KNOW the profound effects of social injustice, racism, oppression, and discrimination upon those who happen not to be of European descent?"

...But then again, I recall that our national response has historically been to plead ignorance to knowledge of the events that possibly lead to "the tragedy," as we hurredly attempt to close what's left of the barn door AFTER Mrs. O'Leary's cow got out and burned Chicago to the ground."

The dichotomy of this is that I have for years stood proudly as an American civilian, in homage to Old Glory during Star Spangled Banner occasions on military installations worldwide; and I surely will not deny the reality of the surge of patriotism that has caused me to stand at attention and silently weep as I watch our troops roll through the center of town at foreign locations around the world.

Feelings of rage at injustices in America are not exclusive of love and passion and pride that African Americans feel toward this country, especially when we are doing things that are good and honorable and fair. In fact, doing the right thing in living up to America's ideal of forming Senator Obama's More Perfect Union. In identifying with Rev. Wright, Nina Simone, and company, there are times of frustration when we damn this America, who is like the proverbial brawling woman---"You don't want to live WITH her , yet you can't live without her."

As I watch & read the stories and comments about Barack Obama's connection to Jeremiah Wright, it occurs to me that we "don't get it." The question isn't "why did he stay at the church after hearing Wright's comments?" Isn't the better question, "what did you learn about Wright and his perspective that will enable growth among us all? How can we use what you learned to bridge gaps?" Etc.

Obama's tolerance and value of differences; that he seeks to understand vs judge varying perspectives; his keen ability to discern and use what he learns to identify sound principles and policy; and his expertise in focusing on strengths and commonalities to bring people together to achieve common goals are all qualities that not only enable him to be a part of a church community without abandoning his own beliefs and values; and to seek out and take advantage of the wisdom and spiritual guidance of a widely respected faith leader, without abandoning those beliefs and values that are different from Wright's beliefs and values.

Rather than asking why he didn't leave Wright's church when he heard things with which he didn't agree, maybe we can ask more about the value of remaining in that church and in any situation where serious differences arise. Imagine if Obama and every other member of his church who disagrees with some of Wright's beliefs, all left the church. Would those who view Wright as a spiritual leader still have benefitted from his widely respected teachings? Would they stop and question actions lead by government? Also, is it possible that Obama's staying at the church not only helped him to form the very qualities that inspire us?

Maybe rather than seeking to condemn Wright, we should seek to better understand Obama's perspectives, and how Wright's guidance helped Obama with self definition, faith and ability to think outside of the box.

Hiram, I respect your thoughts as well. However, they are part of this larger problem if our goal is to evolve as a country. You are expressing exactly what pains W Johnson. Again, if here to start a fight, this is a waste. However, I am willing to chance that he is sincere. I am willing to bet that if he did not care, there would be a number of other places that he could go and share ideas beyond Roland's site. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, but if I'm right then why not use this as an opportunity for each of us to learn and teach?

I say to you what I said to WJ, do we want to heal or do we just want to one-up one another with reasons for anger and insults. I'm not interested in a sanitized discussion on a blog with folks who only think as I do and I do not believe that Roland is attempting to have a segregated blog. Color me bad, but I am tired of the elephant in the middle of the room. If W Johnson wants to talk, then I say, let's do it. It may be painful, and we may find that there are wolves among the sheep that are trying to strive for better. That is a risk we will have to take.

But if not us now, then who when?

I hope we choose to dialogue with honesty and civility. I hope we can move forward as a country.

Roland,

I would love to see/hear a debate between you and Sean Hannity. I too am a Christian, and I just happen to be a black woman who attends a multi-cultural non denominational church. I always knew that we had something very special going on in our congregation, but this whole discussion on race and religion has made that even more evident to me. I consider myself to be extremely blessed in this regard! I too refuse to be put in a box as it pertains to politics. I am neither liberal nor conservation; on the left nor on the right. Instead, I will always go with who I view to be right on the majority of the issues that are most important to me. I listen to Sean Hannity's radio show on a pretty regular basis. He always grated on my nerves, but I listened because it was informative and he had interesting guests from time to time. Recently, the show has become almost intolerable because he has become even more partisan -- something I didn't think was possible. I also watch Fox news AND CNN AND MSNBC. On the radio, I listen to Neal Bortz AND Michael Baisden AND Tom Joyner. Am I making my point? I try to remain open to hearing all sides of an issue. In the case of the controversy over Sen Obama, I would love to hear your rational voice at least attempt to inform Hannity's listeners, some of whom may be willing to at least listen. I know it will be an uphill battle, but I believe you are up to the job. My 19 year old son pointed out to me that Sean Hannity's TV show is very aptly named "Hannity's America" because he seems to want to live in an America where only his views are deemed to be legitimate, where everyone else is wrong and he is right, and where you are either for him or against him. Everything, and I mean everything, boils down to Democrat vs. Republican (or lately liberal vs. conservative since Sen McCain became the Republican nominee). Please continue to call out those who would rather promote division rather than do the hard work it takes to find common ground.

Roland,

You need to get on Hannity (and others') show and say two thngs to them: "When & How did you accept Jesus as your LORD and Savior." And then read James , especially about the Tongue. After that, you can truthfully publish how these conservative talk show hosts in reality (and you would have am imdemiable YouTube video or audio clip) DENY Jesus and want to take Scripture off the air. THAT would DEVASTATE them, as a good portion of their listener base would not only drop...but also counter attack.

Can i challenge you, seriously, as a Christian brother...i know it's funny to talk about Hannity as (literally) the ANtiChrist/Damien...but you are lowering yourself to a Rush Limbaugh -type of attack. That kind of stuff poisons the facts. In the Uptown neighborhood, the condo owners point to the extremists on the low income housing side as being extremists. Yet they have anonymous bloggers & message board posters like IrishPirate who publish outrageous videos & hateful messages. So instead of having the crazy "Shilleristas" and the "true community", the world only sees two extreme views.

Don't be like them -- don't let their sinful ways poison your professionalism.

i love your work, and your directness (as well as willingness to have fun)--- but STAY PURE!

W Johnson -

(Apologies, I see that I can get it all in one post and so this is my only response!)

First, thank you for sharing. I see and understand your frustrations and my agreement or lack thereof is not a prerequisite for such an understanding. Now, if you will indulge me, I'd like to share with you.

There are those of my race who feel strongly about present day impacts of previous injustices inflicted upon the African American people. These people would argue that blacks did not ASK to be here as did America's immigrants, such as your Irish family. These members of my race would also argue that while immigrants came to this country willingly and were able to quickly take advantage of the richness of the American opportunity which was developed in part on the backs of the free slave labor of my ancestors, blacks had to struggle until just 40 years ago to gain the right to vote and sit in the front of the bus. These same people of my race would also argue that the consequence of transplanting and systematically subjugating an entire race/society of people for hundreds of years - wherein they had the children ripped from their arms and enslaved or murdered before their eyes, wherein the men were prohibited from playing their rightful role in the family, wherein they were divided amongst themselves house nigger/field nigger and breeder/worker and robbed of their culture, dignity and cultural identity among other things - could result in little more than a dysfunctional society full of broken homes with fatherless children suffering from black on black crime and a deep seeded inferiority complex and identity crisis. My fellow African Americans would say that because of these things, the government that instituted such policies is then responsible for its impacts. Again, agreement is not a prerequisite for understanding here.

But W Johnson, this is where I dialogue has gotten stuck over the years.

I was born after the 60's and much of what I know about slavery and the civil rights movement is from the anecdotes of my family and the history books. Nonetheless, I cried my eyes out when I found out that my great-great grandmother, born half-black, half-hungarian and half-free, was shot to death at the back door of her northern home for $50. She had fled with my great-grandmother who was also the illegitimate child of a white slave owner and the object of his family's hate and his sexual desires. My great grandmother was taken back to the plantation and later ran away again, but because she was "light skinned", she could not associate my "dark skinned" side of the family and remain free. And so the division in my own family exists today - the Funderberg's vs. Conley's. I still get angry when I see the photos from 45-50 years ago of black bodies hanging from a tree with white men standing around as though they had just caught a 14-point buck. Nonetheless, my mother and sisters lived through it and it is a part of their world view. I cannot watch Roots, Mississippi Burning or Amastad because their truths resurrect a very personal pain for me. I even get angry because I expect that the same way I know these things, white people should know these things and think about them before they say such things as "blacks feel like whites owe them something."

But, I will be honest here. I also believe that many blacks use our history as a crutch. I believe that at some point in all of our lives we have to own loving who we are right now because when you love who you are where you are, you can then stop cursing the road that got you there. I also believe that we need to accept that there are whites who hurt over our past as much as we do. But I will never speak against those who express the pain of the past because they fought and spoke out so that this black woman could walk through the front door - and in honor of that, I walk upright and upstanding every place I go! W Johnson, I CAN imagine what it is like to be blamed for something I did not do because every time I start with a new client, I have to prove to someone that I am not your black CPA. I actually DO work hard. I AM college degreed, intelligent and not an Affirmative Action case. Nonetheless, I have to pay what many blacks refer to as the "black tax" - that extra effort (arriving early, staying late, taking on extra work, never dressing casual etc.) that hard working blacks have to put forth just be par with our non-black counterparts.

So, here we are W Johnson - naked and vulnerable. We're hurt, you're hurt. So what's next? Do we continue to try to trump one another's pain? Do we just say "so what" and keep going?

I have a suggestion. Let's start with getting rid of generalizations and stereotypes. Let's not act like you and I are going to get over this after a few blog entries that will surely be interrupted by the frustrations of other posters. Let's not act like my citing history or you having black friends will make it all better.

Let's just agree that NOT ALL BLACKS AND NOT ALL WHITES ARE THE SAME. What do you say?

There are those of my race who feel strongly about present day impacts of previous injustices inflicted upon the African American people. These people would argue that blacks did not ASK to be here as did America’s immigrants, such as your Irish family. These same people of my race would also argue that the consequence of transplanting and systematically subjugating an entire race/society of people for hundreds of years – wherein they had the children ripped from their arms and enslaved or murdered before their eyes, wherein the men were prohibited from playing their rightful role in the family, wherein they were divided amongst themselves house nigger/field nigger and breeder/worker and robbed of their culture, dignity and cultural identity among other things – could result in little more than a dysfunctional society full of broken homes with fatherless children suffering from black on black crime and a deep seeded inferiority complex and identity crisis. My fellow African Americans would say that because of these things, the government that instituted such policies is then responsible for its impacts. Again, agreement is not a prerequisite for understanding here.

But W Johnson, this is where I dialogue has gotten stuck over the years.

I was born after the 60′s and much of what I know about slavery and the civil rights movement is from the anecdotes of my family and the history books. Nonetheless, I cried my eyes out when I found out that my great-great grandmother, born half-black, half-hungarian and half-free, was shot to death at the back door of her northern home for $50. She had fled with my great-grandmother who was also the illegitimate child of a white slave owner and the object of his family’s hate and his sexual desires. My great grandmother was taken back to the plantation and later ran away again, but because she was “light skinned”, she could not associate my “dark skinned” side of the family and remain free. And so the division in my own family exists today – the Funderberg’s vs. Conley’s. I even get angry because I expect that the same way I know these things, white people should know these things and think about them before they say such things as “blacks feel like whites owe them something.”

But I will never speak against those who express the pain of the past because they fought and spoke out so that this black woman could walk through the front door – and in honor of that, I walk upright and upstanding every place I go! W Johnson, I CAN imagine what it is like to be blamed for something I did not do because every time I start with a new client, I have to prove to someone that I am not your black CPA. I actually DO work hard. I AM college degreed, intelligent and not an Affirmative Action case. Nonetheless, I have to pay what many blacks refer to as the “black tax” – that extra effort (arriving early, staying late, taking on extra work, never dressing casual etc.) that hard working blacks have to put forth just be par with our non-black counterparts.

So, here we are W Johnson – naked and vulnerable. We’re hurt, you’re hurt. So what’s next? Do we continue to try to trump one another’s pain? Do we just say “so what” and keep going?

I have a suggestion. Let’s start with getting rid of generalizations and stereotypes. Let’s not act like you and I are going to get over this after a few blog entries that will surely be interrupted by the frustrations of other posters. Let’s not act like my citing history or you having black friends will make it all better.

Let’s just agree that NOT ALL BLACKS AND NOT ALL WHITES ARE THE SAME. What do you say?

Sean Hannity isn't man enough to debate me Roland so I know he can't handle you my brutha. You are a sharp cat and I applaud brutha's like you, Tom Joyner, and Michael Baisden. There are many more positive brutha's out there but you three are at the top of my list right now.

Sean Hannity, is right up there with Rush Limbaugh, Bill Cunningham, Laura Ingraham etc. They say offensive, stupid stuff everyday so all of them are just as bad, if not worse in my opinion and in many others opinions than Rev. Wright.

This is why there will NEVER BE an overwhelming majority of BLACK CONSERVATIVES OR BLACK REPUBLICANS. We think that Republicans and Conservatives are a bunch of hypocrites that just like to hear themselves talk.

Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill Cunningham, and Laura Ingraham, to name a few, are arrogant, self-centered, self-righteous, stupid people, plain and simple. Also I wonder how many of those conservative so-called patriotic radio personalities have ever served in the military?

I’m curios to know how many of them served in the military. All of them are so quick to talk about how long we should be in Iraq, but so patriotic that none of them have ever served in the military? Rev. Wright has and I have. Makes you wonder. They don't talk to say anything else about patriotism until they suit up and serve.

Roland,

Sean Hannity is all a bunch of loud talk and no action. He's not even on your level and would never challenge you to a debate because he would be intimidated by you. It's a shame how he attracts so many uncultured and ignorant people. He would probably leave the set crying to his little friend Hal turner. Does he really know what it means to be a Christian? All I see is pure evil. I think it is imperative that the article you did on of Reverend Jeremiah Wright somehow gets aired in order to for people to at least see the full picture. Maybe you can get interview with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. Those fools on FOX would never allow you to get your point across.

Had to take a big gulp. Sean vs. Roland? I would love it! Someone needs to bring Mr. Hannity in line with TRUTH and REALITY. One truth is clear. Rush and Hannity need this story in order for Obama to be defeated in the general election. Where was their anger in 2003 when Trent Lott spoke so highly of Sen. Strom Thurmond, a known segrationist, on his birthday at a roast and toast. Sure there was outrage at his comments about Sen. Thurmond, but it came from democrats as republicans were slow to rebuke Sen. Lott. Keep in mind that Sen. Thurmond never fully denounced segregation and served in the senate up till his passing in 2003. And you should hear some of the remarks he has made regarding blacks. Ask Sean if he condemned Sen. Trent Lott when he appeared on his show back in 2003 for toasting to a racist!. Such hypocrosy!

Dear Roland Martin,

Take from a 54 year old "white" woman. Don't give that @#$%^&* anymore voice than he already has! Please. You would be far better off having a "real" debate, with a human being of intelligence. One that isn't so filled with hate. I think his biggest resentment is being stuck on FOX. Not ABC, NBC, CBS, or CNN. No one can ever "win" with the Sean Hannitys of the world. All it does is give him a bigger audience. Anyone believing what he spouts off, won't have their minds changed either. They are all divorced from reality. Besides, he can't tell debate from argument, or just plain lunacy. You should find some one to have a satirical debate with from Hannitys' point of view ( have him sound enough like Hannity and call him Hawn Shannity or something) on your radio show. Do it with the Sean Hannity types on a regular basis. Bring their foolishness to light that way. Besides, everyone can use a good laugh, it lets off a lot of steam. After all, look at the sense of humour God has! He created all of us, AND the platypus.

Now on to the topic of Sean Hannity. I have looked him up and found out some information about him. He is mad about Wright but yet he is friends with Hal Turner. Hal Turner is a white supremacist that lives in NJ. Sean Hannity used to have him on his radio show as a guest speaker. Isn't amazing how the internet works to let us dig up information on all people.
It is sad how he is trying to destroy Obama on race and not his policies. I thought this election was about all americans but yet he day in and out continuously have to answer questions on whether he's a muslim or not which shows America has not gotten over race they just moved to another culture to attack. I guess Sean thinks when he gets in the white house he's gonna turn it black, have his muslim buddies over, and destroy all whites. He is scared and is using race as a scare tactic. He figures if he scares the Jesus out of white people then they'll vote for McCain and we'll be stuck with another republican talking about going to war for another 4 years but this time with Iran.
If you have been paying attention to the news you would see that McCain is soo focused on Iran. He sang bomb bomb bomb Iran and now he's trying to link Al-Queda to Iran. If we go to war with Iran we will have the draft put back in place and will be the most hated Continent in the world.
Right now we are in debt to China who is now doing business with one of Bush "Axis of Evil" countries. Which tells me that if we ever have a problem with China we better fear them. North Korea fires test missiles and is making Nuclear weapons and have a very militant army who will die for their leader. Venezuela has threatened us and so have Colombians who said if the U.S. could do a better job at their borders then send your men and women over to be killed. Russia and Pakistan are being led by fake leaders. Even though Musharraf and Putin stepped in they put men in that they control. Do we even have time to continue with the list. We need to speak to these people because the more arrogant U.S. get the more the "axis of evil" will join together to tear us down. We need to stop and think before it is too late.
John McCain=more wars=draft=hatred=debt to us.
We are in a recession. There is a movie coming out called Stop-Loss. It's about how the draft is already in order but it's hurting military men and women.
We need to stay focus on the main issues of healthcare(Clinton wants to enforce it where even if you don't want it you have to get it or pay a fine) economy (Bush thinks we are doing fine), and why in the hell my gas is over 3.30 (Halliburton).
Did you know they are building an Embassy in Iraq that is costing over 500 million dollars. Did you know that when Cheney was told how Americans feel about the war he said So. We are heading in the wrong direction and it is time for change.

To W. Johnson, I wasn't going to reply to you but I will once again. Those black clients you spoke to fondly of, do you believe that they would remain clients of yours if they knew of your true thoughts about Black Americans? Second in Obama's speech he did in fact speak to Black people addressing our own issues. What you still don't get is that racism today is far more overt than covert. You talk about how you have worked hard to get where you are which is fine. But think about this, what if the loans you tried to get had interest rates higher than that of another race based on your Irish history. Or that if you went into court and were sentenced for a crime that you got twice the length of time in jail than anyone else in society. Yes slavery has existed throughout history, yet this was the only country that defined it for years by race. Why weren't the Native Americans enslaved? Then you also want to ignore Jim Crow, redlining, why white males make more than black males of equal experience and education. You see it is and has always been easier for people of European decent to integrate because face it you all physically look the same. Yes there are problems in the Black community and trust me no one knows that better than we do. But don't act like we did this all by ourselves. Way back a long time ago Europeans went to Africa for culture, math, science, and technology but once again you know little of history. Do I think you are a racist honestly I don't know, do I think you are ignorant to history yes, very. The fact that you have to state over and over that you are not racist says volumes. It's like saying I'm not a racist I have black friends (which you don't claim to have). The black people that do suceed have to work harder than you do to get to the same place. But of course you don't think about that. Because like so many your first thought is about you and your own little bubble. Fortunately, I have had the experience of living overseas and througout the US. And poverty and lack of opportunity is the same all over the world. I think you basically enjoy spouting off BS, and that is your right. But before you do learn some history of the world.

To W. Johnson, I wasn’t going to reply to you but I will once again. Those black clients you spoke to fondly of, do you believe that they would remain clients of yours if they knew of your true thoughts about Black Americans? Second in Obama’s speech he did in fact speak to Black people addressing our own issues. What you still don’t get is that racism today is far more overt than covert. You talk about how you have worked hard to get where you are which is fine. But think about this, what if the loans you tried to get had interest rates higher than that of another race based on your Irish history. Or that if you went into court and were sentenced for a crime that you got twice the length of time in jail than anyone else in society.
I think it is sad that in today's world we are still fussing about race. This shows me that race is still an issue. What I don't understand about this issue is how people can get mad when blacks are upset for what has been done to them but yet Jews complain and it's acceptable. There is soo much hypocrisy and judgment put amongst that we don't have time to heal as a nation. Yes slaves were brought over here unwillingly no matter if it was a white or a black who sold them it still was unacceptable. Johnson you said that our own blacks sold us out but who brought us? Is it okay to accept something someone sells and you know it's wrong to buy?
We are the most democratic nation but yet we treat each other like we live with blinders on. Johnson you are upset because you think things have been handed down to blacks but that is not true. Nothing has been given to blacks. If things was given to us why did we have to have a Martin Luther King to stand up for us. Why did we have to have a civil rights movement to be heard. Why did Abraham Lincoln have to tell slave owners to release us. See that information is in our history and it is apart of the black culture. It is something we can't let go because it is a part of us just like the Indians are still bitter for feeling as though the anglos tricked them into selling their land.
If history does not change it is a path that is still followed. If mothers and fathers don't tell their children that its okay to be mad and angry but learn more to love and forgive then this world would be a little better.
If you ever watch the history channel you would learn alot about the black, indian, and mexican culture. When I hear you talk Johnson you are mad. Not mad because it's justified but mad because you think that blacks are living a life of giveness and that is not true. Affirmative Action does not help all blacks. Government does not help a black family more than they do any white person and I know because I live around alot of whites that are receiving government assistance while me and my husband work more than 50 hours a week to keep up our life of living. So what is given to blacks.
Atticus Finch once said " You don't know how it feels until you live in my shoes." Live in my shoes for a day. Go out and buy a black kit and see what it feels like being black. Go to the store with your black friends and see what it feels like. Watch your black friend try to buy a house or car and see what the salesperson will say to them. Don't judge all blacks by one and don't judge blacks by what you hear. Judge blacks by getting to know them. Matter of fact if we stop judging one another and start helping maybe we can get over racial bias and hate. We are America and if we can't succeed then we are truly not the land of the free.
Love thy neighbor and this to shall pass

T Williams - such deep analaysis.

Even Harvard considered lowering their standards for blacks basketball players.

Show me a school that has raised standards for blacks!

Compare that to Asians.

You are SO DEEP!

Dee - I'm just sick of all the black man's problems being blamed on the white man. And whenever I stand up for the good the white man has done; I'm called a racist, an idiot, told to go get my hood.

The white man has done good and the white man has done bad. Far more good than bad.

Black man has done good and the black man has done bad. If you look at what blacks do to other blacks in America and Africa, the white man has done far more good to the black man than black man has done to the black man.

Yes, there was slavery 150 years ago, but slavery was not a white institution, it was an African institution. That second part always gets forgotten in discussions about slavery. If you google slavery in Kenya you will find it stills exists in Obama's father's country. So, Obama's family has never experienced slavery in America, but has from his father's country. Yet he criticizes white America and omits his father's culture. I know, I know...that is Africa and not the US, but jeezz.

My Irish mother's family came to the US in the early 1900's. My German father's family lived in Queens, New York. Had NOTHING to do with slavery. We have nothing to do with slavery and I resent being held accountable for it just because of the color of my skin. Perhaps you know how that feels?

And yes, there was racist hate towards blacks and it still exists, but it is presented by blacks as if ALL whites are racists. When that black man was dragged to his death in Texas by those 3 whites several, no one could have been happier than me that two were sentenced to death and the 3rd sentened to life in prision. I could have only been happier if all 3 were sentenced to death.

There is also trememdous hate of whites by blacks and many blacks feel they are owed something. As if ALL whites have it made in this world. No one has ever given me anything. My parents gave me morals and belief that if I wanted something out of life, I had to work for it and not expect anyone to give me anything. No one owes me anything, including an opportunity. I'll make my own opportunities thank you.

I have a black CPA and an Chinese girl with 5 years tax experience who work closely for me. The black CPA has been with the company 19 years, the Chinese girl 6 months. This tax season, the Chinese girl has prepared 3 times as many tax returns as the black CPA. The black CPA makes twice what the Chinese girl makes. The black CPA has been given every opportunity to outperform the Chinese girl. But, he does not, he skates. If I have to fire one, which one should I fire? The underperforming black CPA hurts my department, my raise, my bonus, my family.

I have several black clients and I enjoy working with them very much. I am going to one of their homes Wednesday evening in Elizabeth, NJ. I am meeting another in Newark, NJ tomorrow am.

So, you see, I am not a hood wearing racist. I just hate reading endlessly that the white man is to blame for all the black man's problems as if the black man cannot take responsibilty for himself.

I caught a few seconds of Pat Buchannan's show. There was a black man on speaking of Obama saying "whites have nothing to fear if a black man (bi-racial if you want to be accurate) becomes president". I thought about it and I don't disagree. Politicians are mostly all crooks. I doubt a bi-racial could be more of a crook. However, I will vote for McCain because I feel it is important to be strong against radical islamists.

Good luck to you, too!

W Johnson,

The great part about the Internet is that you can choose who to acknowledge and who not to. Your inflammatory and incorrect ranting on this blog just confirms my opinion of you. Because I don’t really believe anything closely resembling reason will escape what masquerades as your synapses. I see no further reason to acknowledge your very existence. To even insinuate that Black people are pampered is the result of a truly warped view of reality.

Whatever drugs you are on you should at the very least break them in half.

I will no longer acknowledge your words on this site as you are clearly out of your mind. Don’t bother to change your name either. Once you appear again with your same simple views I am sure it will stink of your ignorance.

W johnson -

It is of little surprise to me that you do not get my point because you come at this from such a jaded perspective.

Look, I assume you have experiences that lead you to feel as you do. I think they are worth hearing so that we can try to understand your perspective - a courtesy that we have not given Rev. Wright - even if we decide to disagree.

But you own something here, as well. You own actually wanting to get past your issues just as the rest of this country does. Otherwise, you will find the most obscure information that one can access to justify your perspective. Your subsequent posts reflect either a truly hurt non-black person or an instigator only interested in rousing a fight. The latter would be unfortunate and unproductive given the opportunity for dialogue we have.

My homeland is the US. I have never been to Africa nor have I been successful in tracing roots there - cannot find the boat my ancestors were held hostage on.

But what I can find are whites, blacks, hispanics, asians and many others with a combination of races who are willing to journey with me past the lingering pains of our collective past. You can take this journey with us should you choose and help us to understand your anger, or you can wallow in it. However, since we know there is a connection between anger/hate/stress and illness, I would advise against wallowing in it.

Good luck to you. I hope you decide to be a part of America's future.

First of all W. Johnson my homeland is the United States Of America, this is where I was born and raised. I am also a Army vet and have experienced racism. At age 13 walking home from school being called n%$#$, chased by a white man with an ax, and jumped on by a 18 year old white male. So don't tell me how well things are. The issues of black and white are like a bad marriage, tensions and anger are always just beneath the surface and then when it explodes white people such as yourself don't understand it. Since Obama made his speech the other day I have attempted to engage my white counterparts in conversation about it and they are quick to change the subject. Most of them claim to be liberal, and most of them I don't believe are racist at all but race in this country is so touchy to them that they would prefer to avoid it. Most black people have no problem talking about race relations when afforded the opportunity. Here is where people like you stand. Let's take Bill O'Reilly who went into a black restaurant and was surprised that the people used knives, forks, and spoons, and were not yelling mother f%$#& this and that. This is supposedly a well traveled and educated man but look at his ignorance. So if that is how he thinks imagine how many others think the same thing. I am not trying to change your mind, it would do no good as your mind and perspectives are already made up. Of all the people in this country Black people and native americans are the only ones that it has taken not one or two generations to realize the American Dream but are still trying to realize and gain its total potiential . Oh and by the way Mr. Johnson you really need to read up on Black History, people such as Charles Drew, Paul Williams, William Sidney Pittman, and other black architects and scientists that have contributed to this country. But I don't expect that you will. You see the key to resolving problems of race like any other relationship is not being afraid to sit down openly and put it all out there. Then work from there. You like many other white people like the status quo, hell so would I if the rolls were reversed but they are not. You like so many other white males have this sense of entitlement, that you should get yours first and everyone else can fight over the rest. Not just black americans, but also hispanic, women, asian ect..... The great thing is however is that my 20 year old son and 14 year old daughter are the next generations and slowly but surely people like you and the Hannity's, O'Reilly's and so forth are dying off. Thanks God!!

First of all W. Johnson my homeland is the United States Of America, this is where I was born and raised. I am also a Army vet and have experienced racism. At age 13 walking home from school being called n%$#$, chased by a white man with an ax, and jumped on by a 18 year old white male. So don’t tell me how well things are. The issues of black and white are like a bad marriage, tensions and anger are always just beneath the surface and then when it explodes white people such as yourself don’t understand it. Since Obama made his speech the other day I have attempted to engage my white counterparts in conversation about it and they are quick to change the subject. Most of them claim to be liberal, and most of them I don’t believe are racist at all but race in this country is so touchy to them that they would prefer to avoid it. Most black people have no problem talking about race relations when afforded the opportunity. Here is where people like you stand. Let’s take Bill O’Reilly who went into a black restaurant and was surprised that the people used knives, forks, and spoons, and were not yelling mother f%$#& this and that. This is supposedly a well traveled and educated man but look at his ignorance. So if that is how he thinks imagine how many others think the same thing.
I've been listening to you on CNN and agree with most of your comments. The absolute over coverage by the media of Reverend Wright's 10 second (rather radical) sermon has been so over done. I think Obama did the right thing by giving that speech. Anyone that has been watching his campaign, and listening to him speak, knows he is a candidate of integrity and honesty and extreme intelligence. Obama has been hit from every direction. The kitchen sink syndrome, the inexperience tactics of the Clinton Campaign, Reverend Wright, the 3 a.m. phone call, the pledge of allegiance, his heritage, but through it all he has remained calm and focused. Being from Michigan, I do not blame Senator Obama for any of the election re-do issues caused by the local government officials for breaking the rules. I have never donated to a political campaign, but I have donated to Barack Obama. He is a breath of fresh air. His message is inspirational and this country does need "Change". I hope and pray that he will withstand all the dirt, that will no doubt come at him from this election, and bring our country to a better place. We need someone to save us from the bad politics of George Bush and revive our standing as a nation.

T Williams - you are the MOST pampered race there has ever been in the history of the world. You act like everyone else has life SO EASY. That being white, we have to make NO EFFORT to get things. That doors are not slammed in our faces.

The white man has done more for the black man than the black man has ever done for himself.

Why is it that blacks have to be included in everything white? Because blacks have not built anything. Why have they not built anything. I know, whitey again! Like your homeland is so successful!! You have be be included in everything whitey builds and then all you do is trash us. If we are such a horrible people, why do you want to be a part of anything we build?!

You just made another fan. It's about time a brotha faced down these white christian racist conservatives who 'feel' they are under the gun when they spread war, voilence, and racism and play the reverse race card to defend their racist ways. Sean couldn't even handle Wright himself on his own program, so how is he going to handle you. The face off will never happen because he knows you'll get too much press and will expose him as a racist just like Bill O', Rush, and the rest of the conservative undercover klan members. Wright is right not wrong, he is not a racist, he did not spread hate only the truth, I'm glad Obama sat in his church for 20 years, it showed me what a already knew, that he represented the truth of not only the black plight but the plight of white, latino, asiatic, and native peoples. Does any of the conservative clowns do that? No. 'Nuff said, cut the drama and vote Obama.

It's always a sight to watch you on CNN, especially with how devoted you are in finding the truth behind all these characterizations of people under controversy. Rather than go with what every other person addresses to the public, in terms of mere snippets and opinions, you take the time to research your facts, back them up, and then reveal to everyone else. Granted, there are a lot of people who ignore the truth and hide in a corner believing what they want to believe, but you're pulling them out and setting them straight, whether or not they want to hear the truth at all. Good for you! I've been listening to Sean Hannity every so often, as well as Rush Limbaugh, and are they really any better than Wright on their words? No, if not, they are surely worse in by placing their judgment on people in the most hateful of ways. Is that Christian of them? No. Anyways, I'd love to see you put this guy in his place and have him hang up his hypocrite ways for good.

Hi Roland (and other readers),
I wouldn't bother commenting had I not read W Johnson's comments. I don't usually reply to such silliness, nor do I engage in internet forum battles (which is why this will be my one and only post), but I do feel the need to at least voice my contrary opinion, given that W Johnson's is the only post here.

I enjoy listening to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and many other members of the "Conservative Cabal." However, this does not mean I find their views to be accurate or fair; in fact, quite often I find them to be exactly the opposite. Yet I also watch CNN, on which Mr. Martin often appears, and I enjoy and value his input also (though again, I do not necessarily always agree with it).

But on the Rev. Wright story, Roland Martin is the only one I've seen who has taken the necessary steps to offer adequate context to the story, which is always imperative in finding and understanding the truth, and I have found his contributions on this issue illuminating and monumentally important. The real tragedy of this story is how painfully obvious it is that most of today's media won't take such steps to provide sufficient context, but rather seek only to sensationalize the most controversial and shock-provoking parts of a story. In this regard alone, the media would be much better off if it had more men and women like Roland Martin.

So if it is indeed oatmeal that Martin is offering, I, for one, am eagerly hungry for seconds.

Mr. Martin...I don't know how you do it...how you hold your tongue when you listen to all this hate and intolerence..
I have 2 teenage daughters and I have tried to teach them to be conscientious of other people and their views..to try and look at things from other peoples eyes while not forgetting their own stories..
They have been a voice to people in school that have been too beaten down to have a voice..
There has been times I have had to ask them to also reflect on their thoughts and actions... and even be tolerent of those that are not..I think they get it...I wish more people would learn more tolerence.. We cannot seem to open our eyes to see that our view is not the only one...and it is not always the right one..
I appreciate you...

Right, wrong, or indifferent... black or white... Christian or Muslim... I'm getting SO tired of all the anger and hatefulness in our society. We ignore the big issues and, instead, spew unthoughtful venom in reaction to all kinds of irrelevant trivia. It sounds awfully trite but, indeed, "Be the change you want to see" before attacking others.

W Johnson -

You prove Obama right with your rhetoric, but your views are the ones I'm really interested in hearing. I thought that the information age meant that those with access to information and its highway were actually more enlightened and informed. But I suppose I am naive because I am learning that ignorance can be justified by information, as well.

I suppose I am young, but folks like you are helping me to grow up fast.
