Roland goes one-on-one with Bob Johnson who wants Obama to Clinton as VP

06/04/2008 3:45 pm 41 comments

BET founder Bob Johnson didn’t even give Sen. Barack Obama 24 hours to bask in the glow of winning the Democratic presidential nomination before he began to try to get him to choose his candidate, Sen. Hillary Clinton, as the vice presidential nominee.

I went toe-to-toe with Johnson today on my WVON-AM/Chicago show. Listen below.

Thank you for articulating the notion I held overnight and into this morning, watching BET sellout Bob Johnson: “unseemly”. It was absolutely unseemly that Hillary Clinton, herself and through her ill-mannered and vitriolic fanatics, gave no quarter to the party’s presumptive nominee. The lack of graciousness and demonstration of utter bitterness not only hurts her case for what she wants, but also quite simply shows why a majority of Americans, no matter how one counts us, favored Sen. Obama.

As a female, I’d love to see a female president. But even if I weren’t black and didn’t happen to like Sen. Obama’s message, I wouldn’t want THIS female for president. Too manipulative. Too harping. Too shrewish. Too, too, too.

As an African-American, I ask this question: what does Sen. Clinton hope to gain when she realizes that we as a people won’t forget that she unfairly tried to take one of us out (of a political contest)? She keeps making withdrawals from the black community through her treatment of Sen. Obama, but where are the deposits? What interest will she hope to have earned when she comes back around hoping — no, expecting — that we’ll support her? Doesn’t she know that she may have just earned the astounding position of the first white politician in our time to break the stranglehold that the Democratic Party has on us, even while she’ll need that stranglehold later?

This to me is just plain unintelligent. And frankly, I don’t vote for unintelligent people who are not forward-thinking. I also remember the principles I was raised on, including manners and social graces. She’s shown none of them. She’s — well — unseemly. And that behavior didn’t start last night.

Shame on you, Hillary Clinton. And congratulations, Senator Obama. Godspeed.

  • Doris Beatty

    Dear Roland:

I wish you had asked Mr. Bob “BET” Johnson why he found it necessary to make reference to Obama’s indiscretion when he was young. It amazes me that when black folks side with white folks, they act just like them. Like Hillary hasn’t been sticking the knife in Obama’s back enough, Johnson had to twist it. As an armchair politician, I think Hillary and her supporters should go away. I don’t think Hillary is a good idea for VP, because it would muddy the fresh waters we are seeking. I do believe the smart thing for Obama to do would be to find a “fresh” candidate and keep moving. By the time November gets here, those folks who don’t know Obama will get to know him and I’m certain they would see and understand what this man has to bring to the table. One of my other comments is that Obama will win this nomination with or without Clinton. And as of this post, Hillary has been “forced” to quit her foolishness by Friday!

  • W Johnson

Well, Ro Ro, as long as you did’t eat eat him, I guess I can handle handle it.

  • Frank

Why does Senator Clinton feel she deserves to be the VP. She did nothing but tear the party down. Didn’t even congratulate Senator Obama on receivng the nomination at least publicly anyways. Now Senator Obama owes her the number 2 spot not. He doesn’t need her and if her followers all those white women (who was crying that she didn’t get her way from the DNC party) who didn’t vote for him because he’s black, I say to them if they’d rather see Senator Mccain in office rather than their own party nominee well then I say let them vote for him and his policies. Senator Obama won the nomination he deserves to pick his own VP candidate and NOT be DICTATED on who he should pick. He’s been very classy all the way from start to finish and he will be fine in November

  • Jocelyn

Bob Johnson is cut from the same cloth as Clinton. He is dismissed. He needs to take his head out of Clinton’s behind and let Obama run HIS campaign. Clinton LOST. With all her criminal, corrupt baggage she should be somewhere sitting down. She is not conceding. She is holding onto her delegates. Therefore, she is still running. If she is still running she should not be on the list for vp. Let her carry her and Bill’s behind home. SHE LOST. She has shown she is not presidential material. No class. You don’t have to knock someone down to let your light shine.
By the way, she does not have 18million voters anymore. Her actions killed that.
SHE LOST. SHE LOST. OBAMA 08

I wouldn’t have an arrogant, lying, decisive witch veep my cat. You people are not smart. You must be the uneducated and poor hillary supporters. Start today with hooked on phonics, because no president in his or her right mind will have a debacle like hillary that close. Just for you:

    1. She lied several times about being a victim of sniper fire in Bosnia.
    2. Her campaign created the muslim lie and circulated it over the net.
    3. She and Bill started the race-bating game after they lost the black votes…………their major base.
    4. She instructed Hispanics not to vote for a black man.
    5. She instructed poor uneducated white people to continue their sick history racial division.
    6. She told women they shoudn’t vote for a black man.
    7. She dividsed her own party.
    9. She had crazy out of control women show up at her party’s rules and by-laws meeting just to create a scene.
1o. She worked tireless to try to make Obama unelectable.
    11. She denied in front of the world that she knew whether Obama was a christian or not.
    12. She started the Wright story, the Rezo story, the Ayers story……not Fox.
    etc., etc.,, etc…………………………….

WOULD YOU MAKE HER YOUR VEEP? Pour out the kool-aid………….IT”S OVER!!!

  • sylvia

I, I, I, Bob………………….Why on earth do you think YOU have the ability to excite unity in the Democratic Party? Guess you had too much Clinton kool-aid as well. Barack Obama is the head of the Democratic Party, noy Bob, Hillary nor the turn coat Black Caucus members who forgot theeir constituents for their own self-gains.

Somebody please tell that little short, pompous Napolean behavior negro he does not speak for Black people, the Democratic Party not the majority of America…………………………….. We are tired of seeing his stupid face and listening to his ignorant rants. He’s not articulate, not intelligent, not particular savvy about anything, except how to rape Black folks.

  • Kceejay

Roland, I was absolutely infuriated when I heard Bob Johnson come out immediately after this Monumental Achievement by Senator Obama to “urge” him to choose Clinton as VP. SHAMEFUL! First of all, I want to know who made Bob “Billionaire” Johnson the spokesperson and representative for what should or should not be done for the Democratic party? Oh, I suspect the word “billionaire” would be the key word, hmm? So, when you become successful (read wealthy) this gives you the platform to speak out for the “party” or for black people? I THINK NOT. Secondly, if I had a platform to speak to Bob Johnson I would tell him that BET is banned from being watched in my home, and has been FOR YEARS due to the fact that I consider it in large measure some of the WORST programming for (black) youth on television. But that’s another story.

Bob, and his Billions, can sit down and shut up. He is certainly within his rights to support whomever he chooses, however he crossed the line into disrespect by coming out in under 24 hours to “urge” (PRESS) the now presumptive nominee! (imagine that he actually got into a debate of semantics with you about saying “urge” vs. “press”). He underestimates people’s intelligence and that is a serious problem for me.

Lastly, CNN, ABC, and most others that I’ve watched did the same in less time than that, even, by their continuous loop of “will/should he choose Clinton??” It actually became much more about HER that night and has continued to do so. Again, SHAMEFUL!

And that speech of hers that night – she showed us who she really is and everybody had better believe her.

Senator Obama, with all due respect – DON’T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Andrea L

It’s the wise move but as usual often emotion gets in the way of that, as your viewers and you often do… PS she does have millions of followers , no matter how you do the math, even if i just count the primary wins and losses, we still voted and still count “We too sing America”

Sometimes I wonder if there is anyone still alive who saw the 1960 Conventions.

It was forty-eight years ago in West Virginia that John Kennedy won the state primary and proved that a Catholic could carry an overwhelmingly Protestant state. That victory assured him of a huge lead over Lyndon Johnson going into the Democratic Convention, but no one suggested that Johnson withdraw from the race.

Those were the days when political bosses still controlled state delegations and the key figure was Dave Lawrence who ran the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania. Lawrence, a Catholic himself, was concerned that putting a Catholic at the head of the ticket would drag the Democratic Party to defeat in Pennsylvania. Most of my time was spent waiting for Lawrence to make a decision. When he finally announced for Kennedy the race seemed over, but no one suggested that Johnson withdraw from the race.

At the last moment, the day before the floor vote, Johnson challenged Kennedy to a head-to-head debate with the delegates in attendance and full television coverage. Kennedy agreed and the two men stood at podia side by side, challenging each other issue by issue. We in the press decided that Kennedy had more than held his own, but no one suggested that Johnson withdraw from the race.

The next day the delegates voted. As I recall it, I was on the floor with a mike in the midst of the Wyoming delegation as it cast the votes that put Kennedy over the top. The role call was alphabetical, so it took the last state in the union to give Kennedy the nomination. The next day JFK named Lyndon Johnson as his vice-presidential running mate and it was Johnson who would carry Texas for the Democrats and win the presidency for JFK.

Everyone knew Bob Kennedy was no Johnson fan, but wiser heads looked at the map, and all americans,, I don’t care if she is VP or she will run again and her base will be there wiser about
how to handle the “Talking Heads” but Mr Johnson who has been more sucessful than any of us on how to make money, a smart guy, sees the wise move
    Clinton Anytime

Well, people see the light.. but it’s quite odd that many of the blacks that become wealthy, become blinded by their money and maybe even how they are patronized.. BET, sold itself , rather than continue to build itself as a stand alone enterprise that could have broken records in being such, so he’s riding on his sell out money, which means there is another would be contribution of black owned corporate mega powers to add to the American model to demonstrate our contributions..

it just goes to show that with money does not come intelligence, no matter how posed and polished the imagery is..

the nation knows, that as devise as Hillary has been, and the comments that Bill has made, if Hillary was to be VP, she be there solely to campaign for the presidency in 2012, she make the road hard and filled with things that bring more questions than progressive engagments, and be seeking, again self glory, rather than the nature of progress that is for and strictly about the people..

she’s cared to make a distinction between white women and the nations, and blue collar workers, and the nations.. as if the only blue collar workers are white, which is not the case, blue collar workers are people.. not just white people.. that implies, that only white are working and contributors.. and we know that’s not true and has never been true, as the nation was built with black labor, from black people working, and for generations, doing so without pay.

but what Hillary and Bill has done, is show america, they only engaged blacks for the sake of votes and pretense… because if they had built any lasting stand, then blacks would not still face the challenges that are faced… their stand helped wealthy blacks, remain wealthy, but not much of a platform for the up and coming blacks to get in the doors that matter.

they supported and created NAFTA, before they even payed attention, that a whole segment was still disenfranchised and not able to be prepared to engage and benefit from NAFTA, right here in the good ole USA.. and then she sent her secret mission spokes person, to tell the Columbian, that well even thought I’m saying this for election purposes, don’t worry, we got your back”… and that spokes person got busted doing such.

she went as far as to invoke her comments about assassination, and continue to run, with a slight glimmer of hope for such madness, so she can claim .. I still got my delegates, so I should get the office… so the commentators, who said.. “Obama would need a food taster, if she got the slot, is more right than he knows, and maybe even the point of the commentator who said, ” she did everything but, offer Obama the VP slot in her speech..

Truth is truths, and it can be smoothed over, but like grass growing up thru a well paved road, so too is the nature of divisive activity.. sure to spring up, even more so..

but I’m quite sure, that Obama has members of his operations, that are well aware of many more details than the public is presented.. understand that this .. hold a knife to the throat while whispering sweet nothings, is not the way he will engage this process…

they changed one set of rules for her, now she has a notion that the campaign was about, the runner up telling the winner what to do… “with her, “what does Hillary want” .. well .. Hillary did not win, so Hillary does not have the option of .. getting what Hillary wants.. that’s not what the process is about.. it has never and should never be .. the looser.. dictating to the winner .. anything…

the looser simply congratulates the winner and move along… and if they are within the same party, do so, and provide what you have of support to the winner..

why can’t she understand simple logic.. and simple process.. not the “Queen Hillary, give me what I want, or I make hell and paint you as a villian… and make the party look like a groups of fools, who have not stature and no stand of integrity..

Hillary on the brain….this brother is a JOKE and he forget the jokes he made about Obama. This guy is rich and thinks he is not transparent. Hillary and I am a supporter of her also but seeing he diss this brother after he got the NUMBERS….My Eyes are open to the real HILLARY. We ALL don’t know the election is over…….she was announced on Obama winning day as the NEXT PRESIDENT of the United States. Bob Johnson Read the foriegn papers they Know what the deal is. This guy just want to send Hillary the Ultimate flowers….the VP. Hillary is not above losing I have and I have survived!!!!!!!! There are others that have more influence and more of whatever else he THINKS she can bring. Would Bob be brokering for Obama like this if he had lost? I say hell 2 the NO. Bob go check your checkbook you threw money away this guy is the candidate of Change and his “speeches” that she mock tells it all

Bob Johnson should be ashamed of himself. he has no voice of his own. He is told what to say by wealthy american jews, the same people who “LET” BET succeed. Obama unfortunately seems to be heading directly right into business as usual in Washington DC. Especially attending an AIPAC meeting plus amnesty. Letting illegal workers go back to their country of origin without going to jail is amnesty enough. AIPAC ,WINEP. ILLEGAL WORKERS AND THE WAR IN IRAQ ARE ALL CONNECTED. Why would Obama pander to these “MINORITIES” over the everyday legal american workers, who are the majority. These groups do not have the best interest of the majority, what is happening in america is really criminal. If Barack Obama really cared about everyday hardworking americans amnesty would not be an option! How stupid can we get? Rewarding people who steal american jobs ,drive down wages, enter the country illegally and make legal citizens and their families suffer. Plus the greedy business owners who knowingly hire these people should be punished. Roland, c’mon man Obama seems like SOS TO ME! I hope that i am wrong, but it seems like he is ready to help beat down the American people like bush and cheney have been doing. A concerned Obama supporter! PS when people commit crimes they go to jail in the US. look how jam packed our prisons are. what kind of message does amnesty send? I hope Obama is not a Johnson.

  • Raymond

What does he mean “his courage and her leadership?” Obama has more leadership ability than Hillary. Bob is not looking at the facts. Obama has shown great leadership. Hillary as looked out for herself and that’s it. She doesn’t reject or denounce anything while trying to force Obama to do so. She is no leader. Leaders lead by example. She set a bad example. Besides, the VP has no leadership position in terms of leading the country. What he really wants is for her to be the one in charge. Obama can choose whoever he want to. Anyone but Hillary. Roland, I won’t mention the reasons I am against her as VP. I will only say this, she has done nothing but criticize him while praising McCain and played various “cards” and tried to blame Obama for it. We see right through her and Bob should take his money and research her more to see the truth.

  • touch

well how can she really be a leader, who ran her campaign into debt to the tune of 20 million $$$$$$.. and still claim she should be given something… just because she stayed in the race.. now the push is to ask Obama to help her pay the debt.. but at the same time saying implying she is the best suited to lead.. well it’s a piss poor example when you’ve ran up debt that you can’t pay.. to fight a fight by all kind of means and then expect a consolation prize, because you stayed in something far past the point you could afford to do so… won’t just accept the defeat, but want to make the party wait till she decides to digest it.. but claims she could make hard decision in the 3 am phone call, but can’t make the decision to accept the reality that is evident and facing her.. of being defeated..

that’s not the kind of leader I’m looking for… and all along making statements and signing pledges that she does not honor, and rather tear the part and make it look inept in an effort to void out a pledge she signed.. Now we can understand why she voted for the war.. and when it became unpopular , to claim every reason that she was duped and her did not know what she was endorsing..

and then comes NAFTA,, the short sighted.. one term wonder project, that did not pay attention to the long term impact in a country, she and her husband, did not reel in from outsourcing the jobs in this country… and the cycle which set up the nations with false prosperity that had not long term foundation..and was falling into erosion by the time they left office…from the short term quick fix policies they engaged…

You can’t set up free trade and give China a back door, to circumvent the import quotas and then loose out on tariff income in the process… and let the market become flooded by Korean products, followed by Chinese produces and jobs sent to those nations, while the only thing kept this nation with the delusion of prosperity was , cheap good from china, with soon to be shipped away wages of companies here, who can’t compete with the flood of cheap products.. which destroyed the nations ability to compete on a global scale..

what did we have the age of corporate rip offs of the dot com run up the stock more than companies could produce to match in 10 years, and they fell like a giant rock and broke down the whole of the tech sector of the market… and people who had false gains from a run away uncontrolled and unchecked market… that was allowed to push any illusion that it chose..

now true point resolve is what is truths exposed… who cares to look whit untented glasses… will see much more clearly…

Look beyond the brand name and see the composition of the product, .. and you won’t like what you are being sold…. and the delegate votes proved that point when they selected a leader..

and they should not and will not go and change up the rules and have a first and second prize contest, claimed after the contest clearly was about 1 winner.. “period”…

Truths are showing all over the place, Now the news speaks of white women and blue collar workers, as if it’s referring to white people.. but I’m sure there are many other ethnicities in the mix, but it continue to emphasize white women..

that brings a big point and question… is it symbolic of how women will destroy something if they can’t have what they want.. they will destroy the house, and show their disloyalty to the house ( party) because they did not get what they wanted… they knew it was the process of winner and looser.. now they lost their candidate , they show they have no party loyalty..
and this is how far too many women live.. when they can get what they want and have rules bent for them and policy changed for them.. women make hell in the house, and have not loyalty to anything..

Now we can see why divorce is rampant, and women symbolically are very difficult to trust as to being with any loyalty to the home( party).. when they don’t get their way.. they can’t apologize, nor can they congratulate..

the principal tells what the actions will be .. and this principal.. is pointing very clearly how the nature of woman.. become the havoc makers in life.. they play the game and enter the contest, but with a sense of entitlment, and when it’s not forth coming they make hell. Now wonder there are so many kids in broken home, and women walking around with a chip on their shoulder, about what they did not get and what someone did not give them a red carpet entitlment to.. Now society can see.. it’s women who are the culprit in chaos.. in the home.. the same as they are displaying in the party..

it’s no different than when a woman approaches a man.. and he is not interested.. she is ready to destroy him.. but she wants for herself the right to refuse the man, and think he should have not animosities.. Now we can see … women have been living like everything should be laid out for her, and that being a woman some how is suppose to give her open door full service access and provide her what she is not willing to provide to anyone else. They want respect but they don’t want to give any.. they want the process altered to suit them, but they claim they are fair and just people, but the truth is.. that is not so…
This again shows how women live with some sense of expect.. that when it’s not forth coming she can’t respect ..

thank you Hillary for putting together a group of women, that show just how womens’ self centered and expecting mindset messes up the social fabric of life… thank you Hillary, for showing that women have contempt when they don’t get what they want, Thank you Hillary for showing that women are vengeful and want to hold things hostage when they don’t get what they want..
they want to be all this negative, and still want her bills paid, for a campaign she ran that she could not afford, and now even with all her party destructive acts, still expect her bills to be paid for her..

yes, it’s an eye opener to all the people and men who have been blind to what and how women make things the worst they can be, when she does not get her way..

Thank you Hillary, for showing how nasty and destructive and how low and low down women will stoop to be divisive when they don’t get what they want.. Thank you Hillary for showing how the women will ignore the speakers of the House and all other members, when she don’t get what she wants..

Thank you Hillary… for gathering a group of women to show that .. women can’t be trusted to be loyal to anything, unless they are getting what they want… that exceeds and goes beyond rules..

Now maybe we as people can see why relationship fail, marriages fail and who is the greater culprit, is women.. who destroy anything when they don’t get what they want..

Thank you for showing the world how the nature of a spoiled woman acts and conduct herself with her wild sense of entitlment.

this is the truth of what many need to see.. now many can see who and how and why women destroy so many homes.. with the hell raising .. all about what she expects, and what she thinks being a woman gives her entitlment to and how she does not care to play fair or respect rules.. she wants everyone else to follow the rules, but she wants them bent, twisted and even removed for her.. and then she wants to hold on to things, as if she can’t join the party and put what she has into the house.. Her I’m keeping my delegates, but claiming to want to unify the party..

Yes.. WOMEN ARE NOW EXPOSED…. FOR THE NATURE OF HOW THEY LIVE, AND HOW AND WHY THE WORLD IS SUCH A MESSED UP PLACE…. AND PEOPLE CAN SEE CLEARLY… HOW THIS HAS MESSED UP MORE THAN JUST POLITICS, BUT HOW THE COMMON HOUSEHOLD IS DESTROYED BY THE SELFISHNESS OF WOMEN…. THANK YOU, Hillary…

    Roland,

This interview with this ‘MORON’ of a Clinton supporter was priceless. The Democrats are still in a haze over Obama’s candidacy for president. You touched on it with Bob Johnson about the GOP being mobilized if Clinton is on the ticket, they will come out for McCain in droves despite the fact that the GOP doesn’t like McCain.

Obama doesn’t need her and has never needed her on his ticket. HE is the new face of the Democratic Party and needs to kick the Clintons and everyone that supported her and her tactics out to the curb. Many will say if she is on the ticket he will win, I think that ascertion is idiocy. The GOP hates Clinton and she has done absolutely nothing to help change that image with Conservatives. She is always looking for a fight.

Remember the elections are determined by some republicans and mostly independants and unless he appeals to them he will lose the election. Democrats don’t seem to have thoughts of the recent future of which is appealing to the moderates.

Bob Johnson also slipped up and said something that is deep in his heart and at the core of this Hillary Clinton for VP talk and that is power sharing between Obama and Clinton. A return to the Bill and Hillary Co-Presidency of the 90′s. This man is an embarassment to African-Americans

Roland, I just heard your conversation with Bob Johnson. I really wish you had directed him to open a Webster’s dictionary and read the definition of ‘urge’….. to drive forcefully; to persuade, FORCE, or otherwise move to some course of action; to present a forceful argument, claim, or case. He’s splitting hairs on the words he chose, because he knows he is out of line and can’t rationally defend his disrespectful actions. I really hope Obama offers you a postion on his team. You represent my opinion so well. Thankyou.

I am on the page where it is stated, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a SON is given: and the GOVERNMENT shall be upon HIS SHOULDER: and HIS name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, THE MIGHTY GOD, The everlasting Father, THE PRINCE OF PEACE. Of the increase of HIS GOVERNMENT and PEACE there shall be no end,…The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

Barack OBAMA and Hillary CLINTON have played their SPIRITUAL CHARACTERS very well in this GREAT SPIRITUAL DRAMA; imperfect (FALLEN) Adam and Eve.

The KINGDOM For The POOR in this wicked world will be established and the government of it (The KINGDOM Of GOD ALMIGHTY) will be upon the shoulder of PERFECTED ADAM, and PERFECTED EVE will be HIS HELPER. Not by Satan’s POWER, nor by Satan’s MIGHT, but by THE SPIRIT OF GOD ALMIGHTY.

Life is filled with challenges .. that’s why we work to deal with them as people who confront and challenge what there is before us… and we aspire to the goals that are desired in the process.. and nothing that is a goal comes without a challenge.. and no man walks perfect nor flawless, nor without mistake…
I’m sure they are well aware that beyond all the works of Man stand s God, and within all the works there is the 7 deadly sins that confront each person a equally so are the & vitrues.. therefore Jesus died for the sins that we know not yet that we will commit, so there is the waver of very man between the 7 sins and the 7 virtues.. that is the challenges within the lives we live.

Now back to the nature of the Presidency..

After Hillary’s speech, it comes to surface, that her drive was as much about women as it was about thing she states about the nation.. I can’t blame her for trying to advance the stature of women, it’s an admirable thing, but this election was not and is not about women vs men.. it is about a nation that has problems and needs to progress..
maybe she derailed her campaign by having it pursuit the wrong base motivation, of which is focusing on the “women” element, rather than the point of the office of President.. and the Nation as a Nation, not a country of women, or about women… and the divide in her campaign showed her motivation and she played to that segment, and that cost her more than she hoped to gain.. If she had just run as a person, seeking office, leaving gender and the gender endearment out of it, she could have appeal to the masses, but she went from gender to blue collar workers, and then went to categorize that even more, with denoting white women and white blue collar workers.. and her own sense of seperatness and categories, may have damaged her campaign more than she knew..
she should not have assumed she’d be a shoe in, and could set such motivational drives in her focus to appeal..and endear… so she should not be pissed at the process, but at her process and it’s categorizing of the people of a nation that she was seeking to gain the highest office. Obama beat her because he had fore thought not to do that, and organized his campaign not to do that, and he conducted it not to do that.. not in such public platforms, he knew the ways to deal with demographic mix is to appeal to the cacuses, and then equally so to the masses of the nation.. and as a resulting process he could and did run a good campaign, both in attracting new voters, and financially, where he did not run a bankrupt campaign.. so the proof is in the process.. and his process proved he’s a better leader and lead a better administrative team, and his administrative process was not divisive not by motivation nor by design.. and he had no illusion of entitlment, that would even give him the audacity to think is such terms of endearing people by segments and categories, but as the general populations with notable key points that addressed all people across all lines..

He won and gained the backing of the Party members, because his campaign was not negating of the values of full un catergorized address to the people…

Hillary spoke saturday, of how she hoped to be the woman, that all women remember , where Obama did not run implying he hoped to be the minority that all people remember… and those are key points that cost Hillary the election, but it also shows why she was not the best candidate for the office..
America is demographically mixed, but all are “Americans”.. and that’s how you campaign, not to men, not to women, but to people.. and the young people picked up on it right away, and they avoided Hillary, whom before the contest began, many were for Hillary.. but they also sensed her thoughts of being entitled, and that she would be a shoe in, and as hard as young peoples lives are … they don’t support someone that feels they have a golden spoon and red carpet access..

you also can’t lie to the young people of today, and expect them to just blow it off, they hold you accountable, and your credibiolity is what they look at.. people don’t pay attention, young people now days will kill each other about what>>” credibility and respect”.. so they certainly will not support someone that lie to them and given them the, You ow me, becase I’m entitled attitude..

Hillary is from a previous generation of politics’s and the young people are in a different space and time of life and very different concepts and they are sharp and in tune to being BS’d and lied to .. and they will not accept it in their everyday lives and surely not in one who seeks to lead..

Hillary was out of touch with the bigger picture, and more into touch with wanting to surpass Eleanor Roosevelt and Susan B. Anthony… and that was the wrong focus in pursuit of a job that is not about that ..

McCain is too out of touch, the young people, may make a landslide vote against him, just to prove a point they are not ready to listen to some many who is about yesterday, and parading pictures of POW 30 plus years ago before they were born, they don’t want to hear it..and they don’t want to listen to someone drag around with a tired speech and a tired message and war in the undertones of his attitude..
We are at a point of transition, and the youth of today, they are not going backwards, they will.. move ahead and they will push us ahead if we don’t move along as if we want to move ahead.

Hillary did her work, she got it in the minds of people that a woman can run and win.. but just like with minorities, it took the front runner, of Jesse Jackson, to run, and then the run of Al Sharpton and this time around it is and was in the minds of people that minorities will not stop running for this office and they will run as Americans, not as black men, but American men… and the nest round when a woman runs, she will run as an American, not as a woman american, but simply as an American..

all that is great, and maybe best in such phrasing utilized in the pulpit of the churches of this nation.. but in a world as we live, the invoking of “God Bless America” say’s all that without sounding like a Sunday school teacher.. which .. it may be fine, but in a nation that we have many religions, that have different manners of conveying their grace unto God… and we certainly live in a world that has many different concepts of what is God..

then by such manner of speaking and phrasing, On a grand political stage can but infuriate those who too believe in their concept of God.. and run their nations under their concept of God..

so let us Say, God bless America, and do our prayers and sermons in the church and at our homes, and then we can do good works in our deeds as the premise of our functioning..

but walking up and down the streets with a bible in hand, and proclaiming gods name in every other sentence, is not what being Holy is about, in one believes in God, it’s in his heart, not all about what become a flowing utterance out his mouth, that he can digest the realism of the world that we live within… without being so .. not far from the pagan nature of various way.. The Bible is not all about who can utter a verse, it’s about who can learn the wisdom the verse teaches and put it to action in the live and world we live.. as being men, who live in the world, and Honor the creation of it in Gods name… which is shown in his deeds.. that is why and how action speaks louder than words..

such times, people turn those whom would draw near to gain wisdom, is turned with a shut ear, when people preach when they should talk… and let their belief convey the meaning with a grace that is shown in the care to share the wisdom that a verse teaches.. not a repetition of the verse itself..

and ears may open and minds my grasp for the great of the good within the dispensing of wisdom by the mouth of the wise… but it first is wise that the one who care to speak wisdom.. gather the views of the enviornment with they speak and accord themselves to speak where it conveys wisdoms, and then they may say.. Thank the Lord, and in Gods name Amen.. and people will hear.

Well.. now the campaign is on to the nation election process… and we can hope to see many things develop in the process, where voter’s come together as party members, beyond their canidate conceptual divide.. they will over the span come to understand that the Administration, needs a party change.. and the two Democrats have many items they share in common, and the divisiveness that was waged in the campaign, will fade into the back ground, and the party members, will re-focus on what matters and that’s most certainly an administrative change.. we as a nation cannot sustain 4 more years of the same Bush madness and the wrong way politics..

  • touch

people are voting because they want Political change..
Obama has not put himself up as some beacon of blackness,
he has campaigned as a political figure who is pursuing
being President, long term, short term as a political,
is not so much the matter, becase once a person is elected
they have all the resources they need, to make good decision,
    if they utilize it..

this notion that people are voting becase they want to appear
    non prejudiced, I don’t think people’s minds
are that small, in the over all, and if that is the case in
parts, it’s also equal to say that women voted for Hillary
for the sake of her being a woman, and not because she’s
    a good politician.

the campaign is conducted by who gives the speeches that
the people connect to and identify with the value expressed
in the speaking engagments.. and that is who attracts the
    mass of the crowed..

It’s not Obamas fault that others may not be a great
at delivering their message, or not as adept at running
their campaigns, what it does show, is that he connects
with the people, and ran a very effecient and functional
campaign.. and doing so is a sign of good leadership and
good organizational planning, and managing a great staff
to do great work.. if the other had or did have successful
campaigns, it would probably imply they are good at what
    they do.

when people get that old way of thinking out of their system,
of blacks can’t do this or that, .. it’s kinda
like the Tuskgee Airmen, they claimed blacks could not
fly planes, could not see in the dark and could not do this
or that, but.. they became the most requested escort squadron
in World War two.. and lost less bomber than any other escort
group.. Blacks were touted as not being worthy of anything but a
Caddy on golf courses, but what did Tiger Woods prove, there
was a time blacks could not play professional Basket ball,
but what did Magic and Jordan do, and then there was Tennis,
which was not an arena that was first widely open to blacks,
but you have Althea Gibson, and Arthur Ashe, and then came
Venus and Serena… shall we go on to talk about Music, the
music of today, that rakes in the money, comes from where,
Black music all the way from the old blues, and the Jazz is
considered the great creation of American blacks.. and
you can take pop, rock and various others, and they all fit
within Jazz and blues being the parent music they sprang
    forth from..

when Open heart surgery was unthinkable, who assisted
in helping make that a reality and saving the nation of ”
blue babies”.. and he was not college educated …
History is filled with advancements made by blacks when
there was no published recognition forth coming.

people are and some have to get away from the teaching of
Jim crow thinking, where the nation was driven to publish
any kind of crazy report they could imagine to try and make
blacks seem inferior, in every way imaginable, and it’s
sad when any nations spends so much energy to paint someone
thru their many institution as being inferior, may point
more to their fears of others, more than it substantiates
anyone being inferior.. it is the massive spread of this madness that has people
question race before person, and looking at color before
person.. and many don’t stop to think how that was pushed
about the world for centuries, to paint blacks into a corner,
and some who still engage such questions, can’t and
don’t see they are influenced to have such thoughts
based on the grooming of a nation over many years, but yet,
they claim they don’t see race or color does not matter, ..
if they had truly resolved that within themselves, they’d
not have the question and push the articles that still make
    reference to such..

there is not a field of expertise in this world, that blacks
have not excelled and reached the top level in their expertise..
I guess every single living black person would have to be
top, before the few that are gets regard as people.. not
first seen as a black man, but more just as a man..

it was white men, who spread this about the world.. and in
this age of life, not only are a whole of black people showing
the white man was wrong in his stigmatizing people, but
also women too, who were also put into categories of being
considered less than person.. are challenging the pidgeon
hole that .. she too, was thru in by white men.. The constitution
said all people, but white man, is the one who decided that
he would not count blacks as a man, with one vote for one
man, or for women to be counted as a person, one vote for one
    person.

but life is changing and people don’t buy the old story
of ignorance that was spread by one who choose to push ignorance
as their claim to superiority..as if the rest of people
were less than.. and it’s happening all over the world, other nations
won’t continue to see themselves as second class people,
they stand as equally people, broke or poor of whatever
the economic condition, they no longer allow themselves
to be considered by a premise that was spread the world over
    by white men…

There are many of the white male senators, who came to support
Obama when the public did not know that much about him as
to publicized popularity, they did not sit back saying,
Oh we don’t know enough about him, they looked at his
merits and his ability, and they gave their support of person
based on merits and ability.. and many of these were men
who are and were long term leaders in the Senate.. so people
have moved a great distance in concept of person.. It’s in the ranks of those who choose to stay ignorant
and hope to have some sense of superiority that continue
with this .. black man stuff, instead of dealing with him
as a man…and person, who just happensby the nature of
ethnicity, to be black.. people don’t come up saying,
Oh that Irish man, Or that Swedish man, and etc…

As to America, in the over-all, blacks have been in this
country longer than many of thw whites, who’s ancestors
came in the 1800′s, blacks had been here about 200 years
before they even got here, so if there is any root true Americans,
then blacks certainly hold that position as being Americans..
even beyond the white pushed agenda of who was considered
a man, in their minds, by the principal of who was here in
longevity, then that honor goes to blacks.. who’s
contribution help build and make this country prosperous,
is blacks and their labor, their labor allowed the people
to accumulate wealth, thru black sacrifice, which is why
and how this nation got powerful economically, because
it used black labor for free, to gain it’s capital to
fill it’s coffiers, which allowed it to quickly surpass
other nations in economic standing.. and when black labor
could not be taken free, the plantations fell like giant
rocks, because the people who had them did not want to share
the wealth they had held for 200 or more years to give them
the economic upper hand, and their greed, kept them from
paying fair and equitable wages, and their greed is what
killed the plantations of the south.. by their own intent
and insistence not to pay for labor, because they did not
wants blacks to share in the equity of the land.. blacks
moved north, and worked in the factories and mill and it
is by those means some of the blacks were able to save an send
their kids to higher education, which is why today, we have
in the North eastern US, more educated and prominent blacks..
and the south has lessor of such, becase the curtailment
of blacks to engage the economic process was constrained
under prejudice suppressions and substandard pay process
and not able to get thru the door that lead to progress. they
did three times the work for half the pay, during the late
1800′s and some were able to buy land, and some had the
land they bought taken from them, becase they did not have
access to learning, to deal with laws that were put in place
to take it from them.. and subjugate them to a biased legal
    process.

so now much is changing and people.. need to vote on the points and facts of
principal about what progresses this nation.

Anyone who thinks Obama can change ANYTHING in Washington, knows nothing about politics. If one does not vote for other’s spending, they won’t vote for your’s. Therefore, if OB does give Congress what they want, Congress will not give da Prez what he want.

Well I seriously think we have done enough arguing over the BET Founder. I seriously believed that Barack Obama will find the better Vice President for his choice not what everyone else wants him to have. Yes I didn’t agree what Bob J. said about Barack I felt that it was insulting and a stab in the heart of all Barack Supporters. (Not just blacks)

But let’s just wait and see who Barack has planned for us no matter what race Black, White, Hispanic, Islander, Native, Asian, or Gender I’m sure it will be better for the Nation as well as the Democratic Party.

I really wish I would have been involved in this conversation at the time this blog first posted. No one else will probably read this but me, but it has to be said that Bob Johnson is the epitome of the “crabs in a bucket” syndrome. As wealthy as Mr. Johnson is, he’s one of these Uncle Toms who believes that an up and coming black person is going to steal his shine and will not do anything to help or support another black person. Instead, he’d rather degrade black people and kiss the a$$es of whitey.
