Rev. Anthony Trufant

1 Corinthians 15:1-11

“Your Reservations About the Resurrection”

- Paul was the primary Christian church builder.

- Paul wrote the letters to help the various communities think through accurately their faith.

- In matters of faith we tend to suspend reason and listen to authorities. God has not called me to tell you what to think but how to think for yourself through Scripture.

- Some of us have a superficial view of faith; it’s all about how we feel.

- We don’t come to church to find God but to worship God.

- There are some who said you can’t trust Paul’s gospel because you can’t trust Paul.

- We need to know what people believe. If they love God so much, tell me! Or you believe in God so much, you exclude people who God wants, as well as treating women as a second-class citizen.

- The church of Corinth mirrors our experience.

- if you have difficulty with the resurrection, you have issues with Jesus (v2).

- The Christian faith has always been subversive and corrective to society.

- The problem for many of us is that we really don’t want to think.

- How do we know what Paul is saying is truthful? Because the community around Paul was the same as in Africa. There was a tremendous oral tradition.

- The Scriptures enhance our ability to hear God.

- Read Iaiah 53:1-7.

- We have a religion that is private, but not personal.

- Without the church you wouldn’t have many institutions such as schools and hospitals.

- Maybe the problem with contemporary Christianity is we’ve introduced them to religion and not a relationship.

- We already know enough about God, we just don’t do what we know.

- Today it’s a matter of not being close minded but being clear.

- The more grounded you are the more comfortable you are in your Christian skin.

- Read Psalms 16:9-11. Hosea

Matthew 28:16-20. 1 Peter 3:18.

Mr Roland Martin, I was actually looking for a way to respond to your show last week and thats how I found this site. In response to your sermon notes, we need to stop going to church out of tradition and begin to build a relationship with our Lord and Savior. There is no salvation, victory or power in tradition.

Weigh More Pay More. The airlines are not responsible for the real issue here and that is, AMERICA is
getting bigger. I am the author of a book entitled, A Christian Woman’s Journal to Weight Loss and I think we need to talk about the bigger issue. I would love to share my book with your viewers and discuss what needs to be addressed, our issue with weight.

“There are some who said you can’t trust Paul’s gospel because you can’t trust Paul.”

I don’t buy this one . . . .I think there are many folks today who have agendas that are clearly condemned by Paul, thus have an interest in neutralizing him and his teachings.

“The Christian faith has always been subversive and corrective to society”

Amen . . . .Christians are the real liberals. Not Liberals as in ACLU/DNC/NOW (these organizations are really facists)

I just read your article on CNN about Gay marriage. It was right on! Good job!! But then I read your article on Cigarrette Tax, and it was way off.

You state in your comments that cigarrettes cause $193 billion in health costs every year. I hate it when people throw out these numbers. They are hilarious.

Check out last years revenue for RJR $8.8 Billion dollars. Phillip Morris had Revenues of $63 billion. Lorrilard $4.2 Billion.

Now take this Statement. “THE GOVERNMENT MAKES MORE MONEY ON A PACK OF CIGARETTES THAN THE TOBACOO COMPANY DOES” You figure the tobacco companies make probably about a $1 a pack, where as the government makes at least $2. In some states the goverment makes even more. Like $4 – $5 dollars a pack.

“THE GOVERMENT DOESN’T WANT PEOPLE TO STOP SMOKING, THEY MAKE TO MUCH MONEY ON IT”

Right. Just as I suspected. The real reason that Roland Martin is ranting and raving in defense of Miss California is because he shares her bigoted views about lesbians and gay men. I love it when bigots pretend they aren’t bigots and try to make it all about free speech and such. You’re so transparent!

He’s a hilarious hypocrite, too: Bashing gays while keeping that race card hovering about a millimeter above the table ready to fire into play at any time. Well, if you can’t take seriously anyone else’s civil rights, I’m not listening to your constant whining about yours.
