RedState.com’s Erick Erickson links Obama’s Nobel Peace prize and bigotry
We’re pretty used to virulent critics of President Barack Obama making unseemly and stupid comments.
And we can always depend on RedState.com’s Erick Erickson to supply us with a daily dose of his own brand of Comedy Central.
While some conservatives are making policy-oriented arguments to disagree with the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarding the 2009 peace prize to President Obama after only nine months in office, leave it to Erickson to show a bigoted response to the issue.
On his blog, Erickson had the audacity to say that “I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota, but that is the only thing I can think of for this news.”
See, when fools don’t have the ability to make a cogent argument, their inner bigot comes out and they make dumb comments. I see it all the time. I get emails from raging lunatics who are quick to call someone an affirmative action hire. I guess they don’t have the ability to actually read a bio to understand my work history and how I’ve worked my butt off to get to where i am. Maybe if I added pictures they’ll be able to figure it out.
Now, how in the world did affirmative action and quotas all of a sudden get put on the table? It’s not like President Obama is the first African American to win the award. I bet Erickson isn’t astute enough to know that American diplomat Ralph Bunche was the first, winning the award in 1950. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was the second, winning the award in 1964.
I’m sure Erickson will take umbrage to me raising the point about his inner bigotry. But really, what’s the point of mentioning affirmative action? If a white president had won, would Erickson have invoked affirmative action? Hell no. But he knows how to push the racial buttons of those that read his blog – I don’t really care for it; I read his comment first on HuffingtonPost.com – and this is what he did by putting it in the lead.
So Erick, maybe you’re just jealous that the black guy in the White House can run rings around guys like you. Trust me, there are many more where he came from. But I’m sure you’ll chalk up our advancement and success to affirmative action. Go right ahead. And we’ll just keep laughing at fools like you.
