This is a very interesting subject. I would rather have Black people spend the bulk of our time working with OUR people to resolve OUR issues. As a Black person (with an ethnically unidentifiable name) I think that we have gone as far as we are going to go with the race relations argument. The Civil Rights Movement did a great job of making racism illegal and providing access for Black people. I think we need to carry the baton and finish the race by actually living up to our potential. That’s not going to come from any other race because a victim is typically powerless. You have several Black kids with every resource that a white kid has and still underperforming. Some of that MIGHT be due to racism but most of it is due to social norms in the Black community and lack of educational values in the home. Focusing on anything other than the last two issues takes our eye off the problem.

Don’t get me wrong, white people should still be called out for any blatant racism. Systematic racism in the criminal justice system needs to be battled head on because that is a travesty. But when we spend more time worrying about what others think of us than we do on self development, we do a disservice to our people. I think that’s what’s been goin on for the last 20 years.
