Roland talks with Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley, coordinator of The United African American Baptist Mission Collaboration. Goatley plans to announce that the United African American Baptist Mission Collaboration has committed to raise $50 million for relief and investment in the Haitian recovery efforts.
The United African American Baptist Mission Collaboration consists of five historic African American Baptist communities
- Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention
- National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
- National Baptist Convention of America
- National Missionary Baptist Convention of America; and
- Progressive National Baptist Convention
These five organizations are collaborating to respond more effectively to the devastation in Haiti. The Presidents of these Baptist bodies have formed the United African American Baptist Mission Collaboration to enable a stronger response to benefit the people of Haiti. The $50 million will be to collected by way of donations and offerings through a network of 10,000 churches. Each church will give an average of $1000 a year over the next five years.
