TJMS: Roland talks with Tim Wise About Tea Party, Post Racial America and Race Inequity
Roland asks Wise about a recent CBS News poll that sought to find out who the Tea Partiers is and what they believe.
A large number of white people have the perception that the president is by virtue of health care reform and other forms of legislation seeking to redistribute wealth racially and to distribute reparations.
Roland and Wise discuss research results found in Wise’s book, Colorblind. When white people hear that programs are going to help have nots they tend to believe the have nots are African-Americans. There is also a large number of whites who feel that their taxes will be taken from them and given to other people.
