TJMS: Darryl Willis, Vice President of resources at BP America on Gulf Coast Oil Spill Claims

Darryl Willis joined the Tom Joyner Morning Show this morning to discuss the Gulf Coast oil spill and how he got involved with the Gulf Coast claims process. Willis explains that BP has paid over $126 million in claims. Once an individual calls BP’s claims number it takes an average of four days for them to receive a check. Initially it would have taken forty days but a new system was set up so that people would receive their check with in a week or two.
Willis goes on to say that they are looking for ways to make the claims process more efficient. BP used to request three years of tax returns but now will accept tax returns, pay stubs, deposit slips or shrimp tickets to show that individuals had been out on the water making money. BP will take anything they can in order to help those who are being hurt the most by the spill.
