Roland Martin talks with HUD Deputy Secretary Ron Sims about government stimulus funds getting to organizations in the African-American community. Sims explains that they recovery is working, in a number of communities across America there are large numbers of African-Americans participating in contracting.
When Sims was asked for the actual dollar amount that has distributed to African-American businesses, Sims stated that 1 percent of the available money that is a part of the housing and construction side of the federal stimulus package has gone towards African American businesses. (The Federal Stimulus Package is worth $728 billion.)
