I'm not so sure that parsing every word spoken will solve the problem of 'hit jobs' done by unscrupulous and unethical people/groups. The thought did come to mind when listening to Rolland that Keagan was criticized for doing this very thing. (How are we supposed to know what she really thinks when she's been so careful over the years?) Seems to me you're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

What needs to be done is a heavy and successful libel suit, especially against BigGovernment.com, and possibly Fox News. CNN certainly had no problem digging into this and discovering the truth, as any legitimate news organization would do. Only when there are penalities applied will there be accountibility for provocative and misleading stories (i.e. lies) offered as truth.

We, the American public also need to start questioning what we see, especially on the internet. Anyone can post anything there, and just because it's posted does not make it truth.

This entire controversy was set up to make NAACP look foolish and unfortunately it worked. Even the guy who posted the video snippet said it was never about Shirley Sherrod and he doesnt believe she is racist nor should she have been fired he said it was always about NAACP.

I completely disagree with Roland!!! There is a very unfair double standard as it relates to the handling of issue with black people by the administration. The way that Acorn, Van Johnson, Desiree Rogers, and now Shirley Sherrod have been treated needs to be addressed immediately by the President. They all have been convicted by the court of public opinion based largely on doctored tapes and out of context statements. Today’s statement by the alleged victim of Ms Sherrod should clearly illustrate this as a fact. I hope President Obama reinstates Ms Sherrod immediately and works on regulations about what can be reported as news.
Fox News is clearly on a mission to create a summer of racial tension and the Whitehouse needs to address this tactic head on.

Roland, I am one of your biggest and loyal followers. Whenever you are on CNN I make everyone get quiet so I can hear what you are going to say BUT in this case.....I personally think everybody that had anything to do with this negative media blitz concerning this woman is WRONG. I'm tired of this racial mess that is coming from our black leaders lately. For the past couple of weeks now you guys have been stirring up a racial divide between blacks and whites centering around the Tea Party. It's a waste of time. Everyday blacks do not need the NAACP's help in fighting racism. We are doing a very good job of handling racial issues ourselves individually on a daily basis, case by case.

I don't understand who is behind these race wars but I guarantee this, I will not be voting for Obama nor the Democrats when elections roll around. I'm tired of the race wars and I'm an African America male who has his own business. I'm tired of it. You have to realize, you guys are making it bad for us in our everyday lives and this is putting a strain on everyday black and white relationships. If the NAACP can't find anything else to do besides stirring up a racial war, then I would suggest they shut their doors. The black community has more pressing issues to deal with than racial hate and division.

Ex-clansmen can tell their story and still work for the Government but because of all this racial tension Ms Sherrod wasn't able too tell her story. Shameful!!!
