WE CREATED THIS!!! I'm African American and I will say again WE CREATED THIS.

Now. “What is he talking about?”

You have the N-Word and other terms out there that we use to teach and learn are degrading terms. But as soon as someone popular comes along and use it because of their popularity and nothing else suddenly it is okay.

It use to be very clear. No n-word!
But since our people have decided to ADD a definition to use it and CON the African American minds of our youth and young adults that it is to keep from being held hostage by a word WE have created it. Sorry, but that is a fact.

By doing so, we have added the gray area with the use of the word and people are using our own ignorance (I know it seems harsh, but it is what it is) to defend its use.

It makes no sense listening to the N-word and watching even our Gospel artist join up for $$$$ with those that degrade our people and our women and call it reaching out to our youth in their own language. “Their own language”. That is too funny.

I was on a forum and I made one simple request. Don't refer to me in that manner. We were all African Americans. Simple request. Do not refer to me as the n-word. Simple enough right? No play or in seriousness. Out of respect for me. Brother referred to me in the manner. I put in my request. He responds again. Delays the writing of the term again further down in his response. I don't take it as a joke and if I ask you NOT to refer to me in that manner and you cannot respect me for that then my question is “who the h_ll are you?”

Our ladies are casually calling one another the b-word and then walk around proud and yet complaining about not getting respect.
How are/we going to get respect if we don't respect ourselves???????????????????

The finger is always pointed at someone else.
Yes I know we have been oppressed, but obesity is a known issue and yet everyday I sit and watch nothing but big mommas struggling to get on/off the metro, up/down stairs and escalators, fitting in doors, etc…

We know about cancer and yet look at the smoking that is going on.
We use to laugh at the Tattoo's especially when we heard about the dangers and what do we do? Run and get Tattoo's. Money that could be better spent.

It is not in OUR system and we can't blame the white man.
Blame the lack of discipline in the home. Blame the lack of home and how the churches failed our people by USING our teenagers to make money by claiming to accept them, but at the same time offerred no change or guidance in their behavior with regard to pregnancy.

Blame the fact that the boys in regard to teenage pregnancy received no true backlash during the baby boom age like the woman and instead STILL receives a hero's welcome.

Blame the idea that there is a belief that because a single parent gets their child through HS they did their job successfully.
So they became the face and preached the wrong sermon and made it seem like having a child as a teenager was just fine. No big deal. You don't need a man.

And with that statement came the degrading of the black man just as the black man has degraded the black woman with his preference to white woman as a movement against black women. I tell them go ahead with your Sarah Palin, but I'll take Michelle and even Connie any day over her. Amen?

It is in our system and it isn't going to go away. Let this be a well learned lesson of our lack of action with regard to protecting ourselves by NOT TEACHING SELF RESPECT!!!!

All this empowerment means nothing if we have no self respect. It is a joke without it.

I hear little 8-10 yr olds cursing every 3-4 words over and over and over.
Others hear it too and if we think it helps the self respect issue you are fooling yourselves.

We have become nothing more than a consumer in a system we claim is racist.
Ok. So why not break out of it? Instead we just buy, buy, buy into the system.
No Engineers are creating major markets for us or businesses that appearl to everyone like a Sony, Motorola, Apple, IBM, GMC.

Look! Honestly. Go home and mark down: Indian, Asian, White, Black and tell me how many black items you own from a major market? I'm not talking about the Obama shirts and hats or your local guy. I'm talking your washer, dryer, TV, House, Car, Grocery Store, Convenient Store, Fastfood, Restaurant, etc…

If you want to seriously check our progress do this today. TODAY!
When you are done ask yourself one question. WHY AREN'T WE ADDRESSING IT?

All of those millionaire athletes who give shoe endorsements and NOT ONE created a shoe company of their own for our future stars to endorse and use that money not selfishly, but to help expand Network Broadcasting Stations that provide a FULL service and not just entertainment. You want OUR perspective then WE NEED to create our own CNNs, ESPNS etc… Yes ESPN. The same channel that goes character assassination of a player for attending training camp, but praises a Brett Favre for not???

My brothers and sisters we have a long way to go. And if we hope to reach that finish line we need to stop SETTLING. We get our education and SETTLE for a position rather than venture out to expand. We get comfortable and eventually are just a cheap purchase to hold back progress.

Hopefully, you understand where I'm coming from because to make this progress we all, no matter our working class status, need to step up.

Yes, including myself which I am in the process of doing.

    Peace.

this is the stronghold of racism. For some people, who were raised up in this type of environment, they can say some pretty low graded comments which are not only racist but biased. NO Never is ok. Strongholds are meant to be broken.
