Police have arrested a man in Seattle for committing assault and a hate crime after he struck a 7-Eleven store clerk for no apparent reason and then accused him of being a member of al Qaeda, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports.
Authorities say Brock Stainbrook punched the clerk, who was wearing a turban, in the side of the head and then yelled, “You’re not even American, you’re Al-Qaeda. Go back to your country.”
Stainbrook was arrested a few minutes later and allegedly admitted to police that he “struck a person on his turban.”
