Denver – Rep. Doug Lamborn’s office says the Colorado Republican regrets any misunderstanding over his comments on a Denver-based radio show.

Lamborn spoke to KHOW-AM Friday. He was responding to comments about whom voters would hold responsible for actions on the nation’s debt ceiling when he said he thought voters would blame the president. Lamborn said: “Now I don’t want to even have to be associated with him. It is like touching a tar baby and you get it — you’re stuck, and you’re part of the problem now.”

Some people consider the term “tar baby” to be a racial epithet.

Lamborn’s spokeswoman Catherine Mortensen said in a written statement Monday that Lamborn simply meant to refer to a sticky situation. She says Lamborn sent an apology letter to President Obama.

Tar baby-are you kidding? After all this time we have come to this?

YEAH RIGHT…HE DIDN’T MEAN TO OFFEND – HE WAS NOT AWARE OF THE DEROGATORY TERM.  YEAH RIGHT… HOW ABOUT EXPLAINING THAT TO PRESIDENT’S DAUGHTERS… BUT THEN AGAIN KANYE WEST SAID THAT BUSH DID NOT LIKE “BLACK PEOPLE”……2 WRONGS DON’T MAKE A RIGHT..

  • Kimmhill

Wow……well hopefully this “Tar baby” wins the next election.

  • Eve’s Calling

This statement is a result of no ramifications for calling the President of the United States a liar on worldwide television. If the result for this insult is the same the next apology will be for a congressman referring to the President with the “N” word. African Americans should jam the telephone lines and internet of all Republican Representatives until Rep. Lamborn is forced to resign. People only do what they feel they can get away with.

Why are we surprised when we hear these racist comments coming from the likes of this pig, Pat Buchannan, Joe Scarborough, Joe Lieberman and all the other apes who are becoming mentally unbalanced and rattling their cages? What we will have to start doing is stop accepting these back handed apologies given so these people can save their faces and to keep their jobs…We all remember when we were forced to say we were sorry with the threat of being whipped by our parents, that type apology was never sincere…We were only doing it because we did not want to get a beating, that is the same thing these people are doing…I would tell them all where they can stick their apology and start making a few examples of them…We’re the only group that keep getting insulted and keep coming back for more punishment…White people are the most unstable especially when it comes to their money, the will kill themselves, their families and co-workers to prove a point…These people are about to be dethroned from their current position of majority status in this country and we can see the fallout with their unstable behavior to include birth control restriction, changes in the school curriculum, defunding of public education, etc…
