A bit of a startling moment happened near the end of Monday night’s CNN debate when a hypothetical question was posed to Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas).

What do you tell a guy who is sick, goes into a coma and doesn’t have health insurance? Who pays for his coverage? “Are you saying society should just let him die?” Wolf Blitzer asked.

“Yeah!” several members of the crowd yelled out.

I wish Wolf would have specified in his comment that the patient couldn’t afford the monthly premium for insurance- that is the more likely scenario.  Many who can afford it will have it.

These Tea Party people are insane. The bottom line is, “if you’re poor, you should go off some place and die” according to them. Correct me if I’m wrong. Let’s see, you won’t hire us because you say there aren’t any jobs. So without income, you can’t afford healthcare. If you can’t afford healthcare then you should die?”

In the audience reaction you see the condition of the mentality  and soul of your average everyday tea party person, they obviously lack both.

The Tea party is a joke.  Weren’t they the ones screaming when they thought Obama’s healthcare plan had death panels. They were charging Obama as being a monster. Really Tea Party how short your memories are and how hypocritical you are. Tea party has no clue what they believe or what they stand for. Their little minds change with the wind direction.

As an RN, I agree that people should take responsibility for themselves. Too many people deny themselves health coverage and use the ER for many things they could see a general practitioner for (colds, toothaches, “pain”) when they don’t have insurance. We all pay for it with higher premiums and longer wait times in the ER due to the overcrowding. Yes, Obamacare increases premiums , but that is to offset the bigger costs associated with the uninsured’s lack of access to healthcare–extended hospital stays for costly treatments that could’ve been prevented if they were REQUIRED to have insurance in the first place.
