As the “Occupy Wall Street” protests enter their third week and spread to cities across the country, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is expressing skepticism about the demonstrations.

“What do they want?” Cain asked when asked about the protests in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “I don’t have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration.”

“Don’t blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big banks,” he continued. “If you don’t have a job and you are not rich, blame yourself!”

Cain said the banks were in part to blame with the 2008 financial crisis, but he said, “We’re not in 2008 — we’re in 2011!”

The demonstrations “come across more as anti-capitalism,” he added.

Country music singer Hank Williams Jr. compared President Obama to Adolph Hitler in an awkward interview Monday morning on Fox and Friends. Williams called the golf summit the president had with Speaker of the House John Boehner “one of the biggest political mistakes ever.” “It would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu, OK?”

Williams appeared on the program to share his thoughts on politics, but the segment got weird early on as the country music star curiously sulked with his arms crossed.

Anchor Gretchen Carlson asked Williams who he liked in the GOP race, which he replied “Nobody.” A shocked Steve Doocy exclaimed, “Nobody!?”

This triggered Williams to bash Obama and Boehner’s golf game and compare the president to Hitler. All three Fox and Friends anchors sat nonplussed in utter bewilderment.

”Yeah, I don’t understand that analogy, actually,” responded a perplexed Brian Kilmeade.

“Well, I’m glad you don’t, brother, because a lot of people do,” Williams snapped. “You know, they’re the enemy. They’re the enemy.” Kilmeade was thrown for a loop. “Who’s the enemy?”

“Obama!” Williams thundered.

This past Sunday the Washington Post published a lengthy report on a family camping site rented by Texas Governor Rick Perry that went by the name N*ggerhead Rock. The article goes in great detail asking legitimate questions surrounding the camp, and includes contains a denunciation by Perry, but also seems to find the embattled GOP candidate guilty by association for what is suggested to be tolerance of the offensive name.

Last night CNN’s Don Lemon very carefully reported on the story then asked fellow panelists if the Perry campaign can recover from even being associated from this story.

Lemon introduced this story with the same surgical tact that a bomb defuser might approach an unmarked package left in a Times Square subway stop. In fairness to all involved in this story, the WaPo story was built around numerous anonymous sources and it’s still too early in this story’s life cycle to truly understand its scale and potential political impact. This could blow up and kill a career, or could be a dud. Only more facts will reveal from which fire this smoke appears to be emanating.

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain criticized the name of a hunting camp once leased by Gov. Rick Perry’s family as “just plain insensitive” in an appearance on Fox News Sunday.

The name of the camp — “N*****rhead” — was first reported by the Washington Post on Saturday. The paper said the name was painted on a rock at the entrance of the property.

Perry reportedly began hosting fellow lawmakers, friends and supporters at the secluded ranch early in his career. The offensive phrase has been painted over, but the Post’s sources and the Perry campaign differ on when that was done.

The Post reports that the name can still be seen through the paint.

“My reaction is, that’s just very insensitive,” Cain told Fox. “[There] isn’t a more vile, negative word than the N-word, and for him to leave it there as long as he did, before I hear that they finally painted over it, is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country.”

Pat Buchanan endorsed Herman Cain’s controversial claim that black voters have been “brainwashed” into voting Democratic — and, on Thursday, he added some very controversial opinions of his own to the mix.

On Wednesday, Cain told CNN that black voters “have been brainwashed into not being open-minded, not even considering a conservative point of view.” The comment received a lot of attention, and MSNBC’s Martin Bashir asked Buchanan about it on his Thursday show. Buchanan said he wholeheartedly approved.

“I think the African American community has embraced Great Society liberalism which has been devastating for the African American family,” he said. “…I admire Herman Cain for standing up and going against, if you will, the conventional wisdom, and being a tough African American businessman.”

“I think what he’s saying is they bought a lot of liberal propaganda on the liberal plantation and I think he’s right!” Buchanan replied staunchly.

“On the liberal plantation. Wow.” Bashir said. “That’s right,” Buchanan said.

President Obama has a new argument for his jobs bill: Insurance against a renewed recession.

The nation needs to “put people back to work,” Obama told NBC News in an interview. “And when you look at what independent economists are saying about the American Jobs Act, my jobs plan, uniformly what they are saying is this buys us insurance against a double-dip recession.”

Obama is likely to echo this argument during a White House jobs speech at 10:40 a.m., when he will announce he is formally submitting the American Jobs Act to Congress.

Obama told NBC that his proposal “almost certainly helps the economy grow and will put more people book to work, and that’s what the American people want right now.”

President Obama unveiled a stimulus plan Thursday night that he says will boost hiring and provide a jolt to the stalled economy if it becomes law.

A mix of $253 billion in tax cuts and $194 billion in new spending, the total bill for the plan is $447 billion. Given staunch Republican opposition to most new spending, the measure has almost no chance of passing the House in its current form.

But select parts of the bill could become law, and provide a measure of support for an economy at risk of falling into another recession.

“There is no problem that is more urgent,” said Pamela Loprest, director of the Income and Benefits Policy Center at the Urban Institute. “Economically, the plan hits different places. There are different parts of the economy Obama is trying to jolt.”

Dick Cheney would like to see Hillary Clinton run for president against Barack Obama. “So far she hasn’t said she would, but I think it’s not a bad idea,” the former vice president told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl in an interview Wednesday.

“Hillary Clinton is a pretty formidable individual,” Cheney said. “I think she’s probably the most competent person they’ve got in their cabinet. And, frankly, I thought she was gonna win the nomination last time around.”

“Maybe if the Obama record is bad enough — and these days it’s not very good, given the shape of the economy — maybe there will be enough ferment in the Democratic Party so that there will be a primary on their side.”

That doesn’t mean Cheney would be voting for Clinton, however. A Democratic primary “might even help the Republicans a little bit,” Cheney told Karl with a smile.

A fired up Al Sharpton angrily criticized John Boehner for rejecting President Obama’s request to address Congress next Wednesday.

Sharpton spent two segments of his Tuesday show on the controversy. (Obama and Boehner eventually agreed to have the address next Thursday instead.) In the second segment, he brought on liberal radio host Bill Press and GOP consultant Matt Mackowiak to discuss the rejection. Sharpton virtually ignored Press, boring in on Mackowiak instead.

Mackowiak said that the security concerns surrounding the Capitol made it impossible to have the speech on the Wednesday. Then, he said that Obama was showing “disrespect” to Nancy Reagan by requesting a speech on the same night as the Republican debate, which is being held at the Reagan Library in California.

“You’re really not going to say this to me now,” Sharpton thundered, cutting him off. “You know you’re on PoliticsNation … that is patently ridiculous what you just said!”

Laura Ingraham and Rep. Charlie Rangel got into an intense argument on Thursday’s “O’Reilly Factor.”

Ingraham, guest hosting for Bill O’Reilly, brought Rangel on to discuss black unemployment and Rep. Allen West’s controversial comments about the Democratic Party, which the Republican likened to a “plantation” for the modern black community. But the interview essentially got nowhere, as host and guest clashed from the first moment of the discussion.

Ingraham started by replaying West’s “plantation” comments. She asked Rangel what his problem was with the word choice.

“I’m trying to figure out what words we can use and what words we can’t use,” she said. “What do you mean can’t?” Rangel shot back. “You’re confused whether or not you can use ‘plantation’ to a black Republican?”

From there, Ingraham and Rangel kept talking past each other. She fired question after question at him–about the War on Poverty, about liberalism, about President Obama–and he kept objecting to each question as it was asked.

Rep. Michele Bachmann has made a number of promises on the campaign trail that have raised the eyebrows of her detractors, but tonight on The Situation Room one promise was torn apart for having what they contended to be no basis whatsoever. Rep. Bachmann told a crowd on the campaign trail she could promise $2/gallon gasoline as president– a claim that, according to Joe Johns, was “completely fact-free.”

Johns went through Bachmann’s comments and followed up with experts explaining how gas prices work– they are set internationally, with the president having very little to do with it. Both President Obama and President Bush made statements explaining that they had no say in the matter, with the international oil community working among themselves.

As for how prices can drop to that specific price Rep. Bachmann promised, Johns noted somewhat wryly that “about the only way for the price of gas to drop to $2 is for the entire global economy to tank”– something that could happen with the influence of an American president, but doesn’t really make for an appealing campaign talking point. Johns turned then to CNN financial reporter Ali Velshi, who emphatically attacked the promise as an “entirely irrational, baseless claim, not doable.” If it did happen, he added, “the most likely way to do that is a global depression.”

Whether Rep. Bachmann will respond or continue the use the claim remains to be seen, but this report does a pretty good job of dismantling the promise as either false or incredibly dire.

Washington – Freshman Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) said Wednesday that he is “the modern-day Harriet Tubman” leading people away from the plantation, which is overseen by “perceived leaders in the black community” like Jesse Jackson who bow to the wishes of white liberals.

During an appearance on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” West said black Democrats have consistently failed to address high unemployment in the black community and, in the meantime, continue to take black votes for granted come election time.

“So you have this 21st Century plantation … where the Democrat party has forever taken the black vote for granted, and you have established certain black leaders who are nothing more than the overseers of that plantation,” West said. “And now the people on that plantation are upset because they’ve been disregarded, disrespected and their concerns are not cared about.”

“So I’m here as the modern day Harriet Tubman to kind of lead people on the Underground Railroad away from that plantation into a sense of sensibility.”

Germantown, Md. – Police in Maryland are now investigating a so-called “flash mob robbery” of a 7-Eleven in Germantown, a city 20 miles outside of Washington, D.C.

Montgomery County police say it happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning. That’s when more than two dozen teenagers entered the store and stole snacks, drinks and other items. They immediately left the store a minute later without paying.

Police have now identified several of the suspects through surveillance video. However, a police spokeswoman says she doesn’t know how the robbery was organized.

Anyone with information on the robberies is urged to call the Montgomery County Police Department at 240-773-TIPS (8477) or 866-411-TIPS (8477).

Yesterday we reported on the meanint of the political term “Obamacare” and how its lightening rod effect for criticism on both sides of the aisle. Another relatively recent political term that also has diametric connotations depending on political beliefs is “Tea Party.” Some feel that the Tea Party movement is most responsible for the new era of fiscal responsibility, small government and austerity that will help the federal government out of its current deficit crisis. Many others see the Tea Party as obstinate and extreme ideologues who demonstrated that they were willing to crash the US economy (or at least lead to a credit default) during the recent debt negotiations. Based on the recent Web-based political ad put out by the Democratic party, it’s clear that they are betting that the majority thinks negatively about the Tea Party.

Dave Chappelle dropped in on San Francisco’s Wild 94.9 station to chat with morning DJ JV recently, and he covered a variety of topics, including the supposed “meltdown” set he had in Miami.

If you recall, Chappelle made headlines for a July standup set at a charity event where he refused to tell jokes for roughly 45 minutes. In the blog world, the fact that a vocal chunk of the audience had been both heckling and recording Chappelle from the moment he walked out on stage was played much smaller next to the “Dave Chappelle Meltdown” leads. Hearing him explain the situation in detail in this interview makes two things clear: 1) it’s hard to blame him for turning on that particular audience, and 2) this is a rational, intelligent man who knows his craft.

Former president Bill Clinton says that he’s “tickled” to see Texas Governor Rick Perry enter the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

The Lone Star State Republican declared his candidacy for president of the United States during a stop in South Carolina over the weekend. The New York Observer reports that Clinton said he “got tickled” by watching the announcement while speaking at a fire fighter’s conference in the Big Apple on Monday. He quipped, “He’s a good looking rascal.”
